Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Some people don't think of it as an opinion but bashing. It just depends on what kind of mood they are in when they read it.

I look forward to going to Sullivan, sounds like it is going to be a doozy.

My question is... would you really NOT use plasma screen TVs two years in a row if you had them? I mean really... those things cost a pretty penny, I'm sure... would you really use them one year and then throw them out?

As for the closer... The Rolling Stones and The Eagles are from the same genre, but... hey... It really is different when you look at it. It seems the same, but it's not.

The dresses... at least they changed the color? Some groups (like mine) uses the same dresses for years. We used the same purple dresses for four years in our show choir. It wasn't the ONLY thing the ladies wore, but it was in the show from year to year.

I totally understand that you would re-use an expensive back drop it just seemed odd to me that they would use it the very next year, but hey it's working for them so that's great. As far as the dresses go, I'm just thinking that if you're going to change the color, why not the style? I sure didn't mean for my post to offend anyone, but apparently it did. I had a nasty pop up message from somebody from Sullivan who read right over the fact that I think their program is great and that they are a terrific group. Gosh, I've seen alot of nastier stuff written on this web site than the stuff I put out there...maybe I'll just keep my opinions to myself. I wish Sullivan all the best for the remainder of the season. I won't be at any of their remaining venues this year.

Yes, Martin- I was really happy they won, they were clearly the best choir there- and they had a great show. We haven't gotten to compete against them in a few years though, which is too bad- I'd love for our groups to see what they do!

I think many of us do things similarly each season, but I think Sullivan is a group great at finding ways to change it up a bit.

To me, it’s not what you use; it’s how you use it! I think that using the plasma screen 2 years in a row is a good Idea! But, they could flip it; they could put the screens together and make one huge screen etc. There is a lot of ways you can use the same thing and make it completely different. But, with Sullivan, they don’t need the screen. Their show is one of the most entertaining shows I’ve seen all year. Not only are they wowing us with their vocals, but you have clean choreo and a hella nice back drop and combo! They are having the best year ever. Good luck to them for the rest of the year! I have them placed high at the rest of their competitions!

Sullivan has always been very competitive and I have always enjoyed their shows in the past, but I have to disagree with the "trying new things" comment. This year their backdrop is basically the same with the TV's and videos except they are doing an Eagles Medley instead of the Stones like last year and also the girls' dresses are almost identical except they are pink instead of red. They also do alot of the same lifts with the girls like last years show. I found that very odd coming from a program with such a creative and successful history and experienced director like they have. I do like their show very much and they always do a great job, but I see alot of similarities to last years show.

Hey Jeff, their show is up on youtube- I would link it, but well, I'm just lazy.

I have to say, I'm really excited to hear about Sullivan's success so far this year. We've only seen them in competition once, in 2004, but for some reason, I'm always enamored with them- I think Dave Moellenkamp gets great things out of those kids, especially when you consider the size of the school. They also consistently try new things and take risks in a lot of areas... it's great to see them have a big year!

I agree 110%. I traveled to their small school in 2006 for their competition. It was such a treat!

Ana - weren't you there at Fame Chicago (North Shore - whatever) last year to see them win over Mt. Zion and Manchester?

They really were great - it's amazing what that little school can do!

Awesome competition at Edgewood! It was cool that they let all the groups come back and compete for finals. Here's somethoughts from me

Sullivan-Congrats on winning! I think you guys are improved over last year and the performance level was high. I didn't feel like one particular song stood out but it was a well paced show and very well-rounded which I think was key in you guys winning. The Eagles medley seemed long but was good and there were some great choreographic moments. Again, congrats!

Fairfield-I really was blown away by you guys! I expected something great and I got it. I think you guys had the best opener of the night hands down and I thought your show design was the strongest. Your show boasted alot of variety. I felt you were at your best vocally during the ballad. As always, your band was GREAT, best of the night. Randy Sage did another great job for you guys this season. I LOVED the closer! I! The male soloist was great and his dance partner was a great performer herself. You guys really laid it all out on the stage and sold the show.

Mt. Zion- AWESOME SHOW! You guys kept me entertained and I felt you really brought the highest entertainment value of all the groups. There was so much energy in every song. You guys out danced every other group there. I was so certain that you guys would win choreography. My only issue was the vocals in the ballad seemed a little ary and unsupported but I was impressed. Can't wait to see you all again at Center Grove

Troy-Great show! What really impressed me about you was your performance level and the effort that everyone on stage put out. As a whole, I think your males were the strongest male performers of the night! It was just great to see alot of energy and really good facial expression. I liked the girls costumes for the whole show.

Warren Central-You all had some great moments vocally and it seemed as if you all were passionate about the show. I would say the strongest number was the guys/girls number. Really cool to see a musical theatre song and pop song combined in that way. I'm sure I will see you guys improve over the season. See you guy's next week at your invitational!

Anderson- Like Warren, you guys really had some good moments vocally and your closer had some good stuff in it choreographically. I thought the show design was somewhat disjointed and it didn't really flow but I'm sure improvement on that will happen. See you guys at Huntington North!

South Jones-Your show had some strong points but nothing really stood out for me. Your band was great and you guys performed well. I think we will see you guys at North Central MIC Invitational.

My placements
GC-Fairfield
1RU-Sullivan
2RU-Mt. Zion
3RU-Troy
4RU-South Jones
5RU-Anderson-Highland

Best Vocals-Fairfield
Best Choroegraphy-Mt. Zion
Best Show Design-Fairfield
