I'd just like to say a big thank you to everyone who showed up at Locopalooza this year, you all are the ones that made the show what it was. We all really enjoyed being there and hosting you all, I don't think I've ever had so much fun with people I barely know. This was my first, and my last year in show choir, and this was the perfect way to end it. So thank you all so much, everyone was incredible both on stage and off, and you all really made this year's Locopalooza a great success. The welcome feeling we felt when we walked on stage to perform for the last time was something I'll never forget for the rest of my life. From everyone, we really look forward to seeing everyone again next year, especially us seniors who will probably be back to watch again, and congratulations to everyone!
On a more personal side note to the group I hosted, Chi Hi Harmonics. You all were so great, it was really a pleasure hosting your room and watching you perform. Thank you so much, I really had a blast on Satuday.

I must say that this was great way to end this year. I am going to miss all the seniors so much.
Thanks to Altoona for a great competition. We love you guys! Thanks to Waconia for being super nice and to Chi-Hi for being an awesome cheering section and a great choir.
Thanks Altoona for a wonderful competiton. I'm so sad that my years in show choir are over. I am so glad I got to have my first competion as a freshman and my last competition as a senior at your school. It was well run. Thanks
(By the way... I was only there for day round. Finals results, which Ana said she got from me (which she did), were texted from a person at the competition.)
And you didn't get punished for leaving early? NO tickets?
Waconia, great end to your season! I'm really glad Mr Olsen decided to add this one as it gave you a chance to close on a really high note. I'm proud of how you've stuck with it this season, and I look forward to cranking it up again in July!
Altoona, I heard your show went very well and that "Run Freedom" went over great! Also, I got some good reactions to how you hosted and made people feel welcome,...good job! God Bless, Damon Brown
Well well well... there are no more show choir competitions for me this season. I SWEAR!
Here are some thoughts/comments on the wonderful Al-Tuna "Locopalooza".
(By the way... I was only there for day round. Finals results, which Ana said she got from me (which she did), were texted from a person at the competition.)
Tartan- The show was really nice. The theme was... very apparent. I did not like the "Road Runner Theme Song". It was jumbled and left the audience member thinking "What in the world is going on?" It was good to see a group of performers so invested in what they were doing. Everyone looked like they were having so much fun performing and no one looked like they didn't want to be on stage.
Chi Hi- This was my first time ever seeing a show by you guys. I was very impressed. I thought you all had the cleanest choreography in the day. The vocals were well balanced, but there is a certain "haze" that surrounds the sound produced making it sound weak, young, and muddy... clear that up and the sound would be really quite nice. The guys also need to think about a more mature sound to match the entire group in some parts of the show. I really enjoyed the "Heat Wave" number.
Eau Claire North- This was also my first time ever seeing you guys. The show was nice. There really needs to be some work done in the ballad with vowels, breathing, dynamics... everything. It is a really nice song, but I felt like I was listening to kids in an intermediate school show choir performing. The rest of the show didn't sound quite like that... so why does the ballad? "Proud Mary" was a fun song.
Holmen- I've seen your show 6 times throughout this season. I may not be a fan of the "style" of show you guys perform, but I did recognize at the very beginning of the year, you all had your act together. Today was not the case. As the season has progressed, I feel the show has taken some major steps for the worse. I understand it's April and show choir isn't much on the mind anymore, but that is no excuse. The mistakes and sloppiness in choreography were VERY surprising to me. The vocals were way out of balance. The girls overpowered by far (3 girls all at different times of the show, 1 of them for most of the show). Also, at the beginning of the year, you ALL were a tight unit on stage. It's neat to see really outstanding performers stick out of a choir (Diandre Neville from Linn Mar, Brenna See & Zack Gray from Eisenhower, Allison Rule from Mt. Zion, all come to my mind)... but it is NOT neat to see a performer who he/she thinks they are the best and therefore goes above and beyond to make sure everyone in the audience knows it when really they are only showing the ugliness of their egoes. This occured with a performer in the show... by the second half, it seemed like it was just all about that one performer, when it was clear that he/she was just "show boating". It's even worse when this kind of thing happens in a group of your size (12 performers). Audience members find themselves revolted when they should be enjoying themselves. There is no "I" in Team.
Waconia- The improvements you all have made throughout the season have been wonderful! There was no doubt that your band should have received the Best Band award. They were fantastic. They didn't overpower the choir, and in dance breaks they were on fire! I think the show flowed much better without "Fun/Kids", smart choice with axing it (even though I loved watching one of the old ladies with a walker... she was amazing!) The ballad was cool. Congrats to the soloist on the award! It was very refreshing to see someone so humble and surprised receive it. The "Ricky Martin Medley" has improved so much, it's a great number. The energy you guys pour out is wonderful... but that's no real surprise, this is a fine Damon group! Be proud of the work you have accomplished throughout the season, it was great watching you all grow from month to month. You guys are a fun group of kids to watch on stage.
Eau Claire- Not much to say. You guys had what it took to be the champions of this competition. I felt that the diction was a bit much at points throughout the show. Otherwise, nice job and congrats on your win.
Other comments...
I've never heard of a gym refered to as a "train station" so many times in my life.
The gym was really cold.
After 10 competitions in one season (and 4 years of being a performer in my H.S. show choir before), I have come to hate show choir chants. If you participate in these chants... know that I hate you with every part of my soul. I'm only partially kidding.
To the Altoona girl who I asked directions from to get to Culvers. I must confess... I'm not from Waconia.
I was sad not to get to catch Holmen "Midwest Magic". I love "Vogue".
It was nice seeing Kate Larsen's (Davenport West's prep director) old high school. She was a "railroader" from 96-00.
The End. No more competitions... just the Fab Five!
