Greece Athena didn't scream, they sounded amazing... very powerful vocals... they just don't know how to dance and sing at the same time and their def. of show choir is way off and can't be judged on the same sheet...

And Fairfield in no way compares to Findlay in any way, shape or form... Findlay had all the captions down... except originality...

Sorry, i guess thats my problem too, i just hate the lack of originality. I understand that findlay is an outstanding choir. But they bored me to death all year. I just don't respect hearing "what i did for love" in competition 2007. Regardless of how well it is sung...(which i didn't necessarily find it INCREDIBLE like some)

I don't know, i'm not trying to trash anyone here, i'm just very confused. Greece athena's choreography was just about the most ridiculous stuff i've seen. Their vocals WERE powerful, but they were a little shouty and immature sounding. I just don't know. Fairfield isn't known for having extremely good vocals, But i thought atleast their Choreo and band scores would have carried them up to 2nd at least. Carroll usually has very good vocals and though i haven't seen them this year, i would definately say that what i saw Last year would take vocals over Greece or Fairfield any day.... Don't know.

Anyway.

poor Fairfield. there show is amazing this year and so clean, but it seems many judging panels just aren't getting it. Findlay has a history of doing well in competition in New York, and maybe i'm just biased against tapping choirs, but i really don't see how they can win choreography captions over California groups and choirs like Fairfield.

EDIT - i forgot to add, i was told that one judge had Fairfield in sixth place. perhaps that could be the reason behind the third runner-up placement.

I'm not quite sure how fairfield didn't take this all. or atleast choreo and band, I love their show this year especially now at the end of the year. I don't understand how Greece athena did so well, from what i have seen in my mind it should have been

GC: Findlay: Vocals/
1RU: Fairfield: Choreo/band
2RU: Hart
3RU: Bonita Vista
4RU: Edgewood
5RU: Greece athena

Thought Carroll would have done better.... Not very impressed at all with Edgewood or Greece athena. people that are putting them in their top 20's need to step into the light and realize that times have changed and they're not powerhouses. what was with all Greece Athena's Screaming???? i don't get it, and the weird choreography? how long was their show????

weiiiiiiiiirrrrrddd and they butchered Hide and Seek..... grr i hate it when show choir ruins a good song

I may not be missing much but sometimes things that are done in a different way get misunderstood. I would love to see for myself. I heard that they took Hide and Seek and made it into a dance number. I Love watching traditional show choir but sometimes the people that step over the line are fun to watch.

I agree with you, and think that's ok from a general audience member's viewpoint, but don't feel like this is something that an educated judge should pass over or "miss" in the daytime, and if it's something they are "missing" in the daytime, then they shouldn't be judging in the first place.

I especially wonder about the "creativity" score that gets lower from daytime to evening. ??

Fixed scores include creativity, difficulty, appropriateness to music, etc. Everything involving a show design. This is why choreographers should not be judging their own groups - because of these categories which are directly mainly towards the design and director/choreogrpahers' choices. They'd essentially be judging themselves, and when it comes to subjectivity, this is impossible, and should not be happening. It also has nothing to do with the way the kids perform.

Theoretically, the only thing that can possibly improve within a show from daytime to evening is the execution, and the other scores should be fixed to remain after the daytime - or have those show design categories removed all together for the evening competition.
