Hey im just curious. What did any of you guys think about prospects show, but only really if you saw the finals one because it was much much better. Any suggestions, comments, or anything else? " border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" /> Unfortunately we didn't get to see innovations show due to timing, but i heard that it was incredible. I enjoyed hersey's vocals a lot (as usual) they're always awesome. And not to mention those sweet capes that would seem hard to dance in. But they looked cool.
I really enjoyed your song selection- and your choreography- it was really sweet. i remember really liking the closer especially.

I have to admit I was a bit surprised by the prelim scores. Johnston didn't exactly have the kind of run they were used to - so for them to be 60 points ahead of Prospect was shocking. I thought maybe the judges would be a bit harder on their prelim performance.
But in the evening it was like a totally different group took the stage, so to get 3 1st place votes didn't surprise me that round! Hersey did sing great though - there were parts of their show that I swear sounded like a studio recording it was so clean, balanced and blended.
I thought maybe Mayville would be able to pull up a spot or two in finals - they had such a crowd pleasing show and were totally committed to it.
Does anyone have all the finals scores etc. to post like they were posted for prelims up above? Just curious...

Does anybody have the score from finals? I heard Hersey lost by one point? " border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
actually- my director told me that hersey won point wise. however johnston had three 1's and a 3 for placements. while hersey had three 2's and a 1. and mayville (who ended up either 4th or 5th) received one 2nd placement.
here comes the rain again is not wheeling's ballad it's must be talking to an angel.
sorry...i'm not a current member. but i came for a visit during one of their rehearsals and that's what they were singing. they must have changed it. it sounded so good though!
sweet dreams (are made of this)
missionary man (guys song)
would i lie to you
sisters are doin' it for themselves (girls song)
here comes the rain again (ballad)

here comes the rain again is not wheeling's ballad it's must be talking to an angel.
But it was Chicagoland schools that made up half of finals! (though it was cool how District 214 all supported each other - they were really lucky to have that kind of support. I'd like to think Urbandale, Ankeny, and Johnston would do that for each other...)
For a while I was thinking Johnston missed some fine print in the rule book or something (section 15, paragraph 6, line 3: "all shows must have a theme"). I was even starting to joke that Johnston's theme was "we have no theme"!
Johnston doesnt have district numbers, so we just stuck with the chanting of the area code: 515! 515!

It really was theme show central - I don't know if I've ever seen so many themed shows in one day!
That's Wisconsin for you. It's funny how much changes in show choir when you just cross the Mississippi River... The two halves might as well be two different countries.
I was reading through the earlier posts about this, and someone was wondering about Monona Grove. We didn't go this year because there was a Jazz Band competition as well this weekend, and most of our band is in Jazz Band. I thought I'd let everyone know. I was really upset that we didn't get to go, because I know a lot of people from Fort, and it's usually an amazing competition. *emo tear*
What is Prospect, Wheeling, and John Hersey's shows?
wheeling's show is the eurythmic's greatest hits.

sweet dreams (are made of this)
missionary man (guys song)
would i lie to you
sisters are doin' it for themselves (girls song)
here comes the rain again (ballad)
What is Prospect, Wheeling, and John Hersey's shows?
Prospect: "Life" theme.
Got to get you into my life
It's my life (as a ballad - which was kind of cool)
More to Life
My Way
Meant to Live
This is your Life
Wheeling: Eurythmics

Here Comes the Rain Again
Must be Talking to an Angel
Missionary Man
Sisters are doing it for themselves

The Magic of Love
Could it be Magic

What a cool/layed back contest, not many groups so things weren't too hectic, and the rooms were very conveniently located near the cafeteria, gym and auditorium! It was so cool to see the different styles and takes on show choir in Wisconsin. We kept getting asked what our theme was, and it wasn't until I looked at the program that i noticed that 9/10 groups had a theme. Johnston hasn't had a themed show since 2002 when they did their 'postcards' show, which had to do with different places in the World. (42nd street/broadway area, Rio, Vienna, Nice, Siberia, Vegas). I would like to congratulate all the groups, especially Hersey and Prospect, (the only 2 I actually got to see live).
Prospect- me and all the kids really enjoyed the choreography that you had! April always seems to know what works best with songs and it was very effective (I'm forgetting your other choreographer's name right now, sorry)
Hersey- Your kids were so nice and genuine, which was so refreshing with the caliber of show that you had. For only having 38 people onstage I was very imprssed with what you were putting out vocally, and visualy, your director and choreographer should be proud!
Anyone have an comments on this competition??? I unfortunately didn't get to see anyone but Fort yesterday so I don't really know how everyone did. Fort...your ballad is absolutely amazing!!! The was one of the only times I have ever seen an audience react so wildly to a song!! The soloist was absolutley amazing. I have to admit I did not understand your show during your first performance, but the second performance I competely understood the concept and it was great!! Choreography was amazing and clean...good luck next week at Brodhead. After the final results were announced, our director told us all that some La Crosse Logan kids drove all the way down to Fort just to watch us perform!! Even though we didn't know you were there until after we were on the bus going home, we really appreciated you being there and that was possibly the nicest thing anyone has ever done for us! Thanks so much for your support! If any of you guys are on scc, send me a message and tell me who you are.
