I just wanted to say congrats to the entire Hastings choir. i saw your show on saturday afternoon and it was outstanding. i'm from sauk prairie and i was surprised to hear we we're ahead of you by the amount we were in the day but i still knew it was between you guys and us for the first runner up. i loved 'devel went down to georgia' and your stage crew is just amazing. in the night i think you guys just out performed us and i want to say way to go. can't wait to see you at lacrosse logan invite.
wow, thank you so much! i hadn't seen sauk prairie at milton, so i was really excited to see you guys at MG. i really enjoyed it! fiddler on the roof is one of my favorite musicals (i own the soundtrack, i hope you didn't mind, but i was singing along from my seat! ), and you guys must have an amazing vocal coach, cuz they were simply impeccable. major props to your sopranos! i know we (hastings) have had some issues in the past with them sharping, but i didn't hear a single problem like that in your show. unfortunately, we will not be attending Lacrosse Logan. we had to pull out because of a One Act play competition (we'd be w/o 4 or 5 ppl) and in minnesota, that saturday is the All State choir performance (which affects 4 of us), so we would have been too drastically reduced in numbers. however, we will be attending Mo Show in Cedar Rapids Iowa on march 13th (otherwise the schedule is as announced). again, thanks for a great show! and congratulations!
-Love, love, love love, looooove
-How could you belive me when I said I loved you when you know i've been a liar all my liiiife
-Traditiooooon, tradition
-Bob Hope.
I have #2 from your list stuck in my head too. And the dance too. I wonder why....!! Tradition too! i loved that song!!!
I think our show will gel more...it was our first competition with many new people (i think we have 14 freshmen and a lot of older newcomers). now that they know what its about i think we will do much better at sauk this weekend
alana, i agree. allison was arguably the best female peformer in there (i say arguably, because it's simply my opinion, and everyone's is different). i'm pretty sure i watched her for the majority of the show, mostly because her presence commanded it (and conveniently, she was in the front most of the time, if i remember correctly). but truly, every person on that stage was a performer. all show choir kids know there is a difference between going thru the motions and really performing it. m.z. i was blown away by your seemingly flawless performance! i think hastings has learned a lot in the way of facials and overall presence on stage from watching mt. zion.
I didn't know that was your first comp! They are always the toughest, especially with new members. Our first comp was last weekend at Milton, and we got 8th, but we got 1RU this weekend. I think it comes down to nerves, and being comfortable on stage. I'm sure you guys will do well in competitions to come.
In my opinion if you make finals, you'll place high. Just because your show is very entertaining, and generally the most entertaining show wins in Finals (Judges pick their fav show).

I just realized I haven't said this yet, but Sauk's show was much better than at Milton, or at least that's what I thought. Pretty much everything that bothered me was fixed. Everyone, MatthewCharles is Matt Brennan, who won best male soloist, so congratulations for that.

no kidding~MTZ's vocals have really gotten up there(i was quite surprised that we took best vocals because MTZ has improved so much and Sauk had amazing vocals as well)-their show is pretty much flawless(mtz)-and Im gonna say again how nice they are!!! my favorite performer is Allison(I believe its her name)-short brown hair. when I think of MTZ-her face is the first that pops into my mind-seriosuly-what an Incredible performer-you simply can't take your eyes off her because she just has it all!! ahhh-I ADORE her attitude-major props to her!!!! Im so glad I bought a DVD-I will be watching their show over and over and over and over and over and over and over...you get the picture!! " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
I already posted this in the "MONONA GROVE 2004- predictions" topic, but if people only check this one I'd like them to see it:
Well, this is only the second year of the Monona Grove Silver Stage Invitational, and already we have nearly doubled in size, and attracted a group like Mt. Zion. I would like to know if there is anything we can do a better job of, to continue to run an even better competition year after year. What works for you that we should maybe try, and did you have any problems that we should address? I'd be especially interested in input from Mt. Zion students, because they help run a fairly large competition that has been around a while. However, I know you are asked by Mr. Gemar not to post on here, so go ahead and PM me or reach me on AIM- just click the little AIM button down at the bottom of my posts, or check my profile for the screenname.
I attened this competition n i thought that all of the groups here were amazing... n i thought that the results were rite on!! i thoguht that hastings had an amazing show... n that they did very well... choreography i dont even think that was a question.. vocals on the other hand... i thought mtz was up there with vocals this year... for people who rag on them for singing... u have no room to do it... i have seen them at Onalaska and at Monona Grove... the have improved so much... they had to be rite u there when it came down to vocals, i congrats everyone on a wonderful competition... thank you everyone for an awesome weekend
my favorite show was: Mt.Zion then Broadhead then Neenah
Amazing Evening! Congratulations to everyone! Mount Zion
You simply glow with confidence! I hardly even noticed your amazing facials, I was so blown away by the confident atmosphere you guys bring to the stage! The usual unbelievable choreography of Swings, now with matching vocals... wow!
And yet Hastings managed to win best vocals. I was surprised by that. I thought it was very close between Mt. Zion, Sauk, and Hastings. People like to rip on Mt. Zion's vocals a lot... now that I have seen them, I can say that this is not a year to do it. That was probably the best executed show that I have seen, in terms of the vocals and choreography. It was far better than GCS, which I saw last week at Milton. GCS still did a great job with their show, and were the best at Milton, but if they'd have gone up against Mt. Zion again I think they'd come up on the short end again.
Even though I was amazed by the quality of Mt. Zion's show, I still have to say that it lacked the charm of Hastings's show (in terms of song selection, that is.) It didn't have anything to match "Devil Went Down to Georgia." But, that is my only complaint, and still was a job well done.
What a great competition, I wanna give mad props to Brodhead and Hastings, I loved Brodhead's show. I thought for sure they were gonna make finals but you guys hopefully will at sauk! And Hastings, holy cow...Your show is incredible. I almost creamed my jeans when I saw Devil Went Down To Georgia. I loved the little curtains that went across too... Congrats on a fine performance and getting best vocals!!
