So I just got the Finals tape from Southmont. WOW! It's amazing to see how good these groups are already in the season. I wasn't able to attend but from the looks of it, it was an awesome competition.

Beavercreek- Nice show, I think that once it is polished a little more you will do well. Closer costumes are a little trippy, but they work. You guys are always on top of things, way to keep up tradition. Your director is awesome. I honestly feel you should have placed above Mooresville.

Mooresville- Always a great group, I don't know what happened that one year when you did the KISS stuff for a closer, but I was afraid you guys were headin downward. This is way better! Hope to see you guys again soon.

Crete-Monee- WOW I think you got screwed. You had a very clean show and SO entertaining. I think you need to work blend some, but keep that big sound you have. Your director has really brought you guys up- hope you are listening to what he says. I am going to Onalaska, can't wait to see you and hope you place better there. Crete doing swing? Who'da thunk it?

FC- Classy! You guys have another good year ahead. I think the show wasn't polished and ready for performance at Southmont. I'm sure this will change, but I don't feel as though you should have placed where you did. To me, this competition is all about who is ready, and I think some more rehearsals would have been in order.

Teays- Do your men take dance classes with Andy Haines??? Great stature, men and women! Such crisp ballroom choreography. Hearing It's Today brought back memories of Findlay and C. G. doing it. I'm kind of surprised you're doing it. I was also surprised you took best vocals, considering you were singing out of tune for most of the show. Sopranos!! Can someone from TV tell me what parts of the show are being taken out and replaced for Onalaska? I'm curious! Ballad was very nice. Again, excellent performers!

DeKalb- LOVED THE OPENER and NOVELTY NUMBER! I'm sure it looked even better in person. You guys or Crete shoulda taken best vocals. Great energy onstage. Costumes to die for- Shelley outdid herself again! Excellent choreography, as usual. I was only upset it how the show seemed to go downhill after those songs. Someone PLEASE tell me that I'm not going to here 'A Little Less Conversation' ALL year!!!!!!!!!

Overall, great job to all groups. I'm pumped to see Onalaska!

I never really got to say how I felt about Southmont. It was really fun! I loved all the lights and stuff when groups would walk on stage. Everyone there treated us w/ a lot of respect even though were from Ohio. Dekalb you were and still are my favorite group. I didn't mind losing to u guys because u are good winners, u dont rub it in peoples faces that u won, u win in a mature manner but still have fun at the same time. I talked to some people from your group while I was standing in line to eat after pre-lims awards and they were sooo nice. I'm glad we got to compete against u and wish we could see u again this year. Good luck w/ the rest of the competitions!

Ok, #1: Does anybody know about the other caption awards (best costumes, best male/female soloist) cuz we kinda left during that part to go eat taco bell... and #2: Everybody is talking about FC's skirts falling off... but you also need to watch the weave... or hair piece!!! That was hilarious! But that girl did cover it well! So props to her!

Hey, JR! Long time no see! How far away are you now? When I get my tape from finals I may be able to make a copy and send it to you.

Hey if anyone has information about either getting a tape, or can e-mail a video of the Cavaliers performance that'd be great! I used to be in Cavs and I transfered to a different school, no show choir. :-( So I'd like to see their performance at southmont. Thanks, and if you can e-mail it to me, [email protected]

What were some of the songs performed at Southmont? All I've really gotten from the posts is that Dekalb is doing "Reach" as a ballad and Teays Valley is doing some Billy Joel thing. Does anybody remember what songs each group performed in the finals???

One of the girls I spoke to from Panache said she didn't really like the show they did. She said the choreography was too easy and the vocals weren't up to par. It wasn't nearly as good as the show they did last year. I still remember that one.

They only did I think three songs, and didn't have a band. I'm almost positive it was just a fall show, and won't be their contest show.

Did anyone see Southmont "Panache" on Saturday night? I left before the exhibition and awards, and I was just curious how they are looking with their new director. I hope they are doing well with Mr. Evert... if anyone has any info to share, please do!
