well except after the fact, then whoever was right had the "correct" prediction, right? ;)

Well yes of course haha. I'm kinda saying you can't have a wrong opinion. But yes, your right lol

predicting in show choir is always difficult- because its about a panel of opinions. there is no 'correct' prediction

well except after the fact, then whoever was right had the "correct" prediction, right? ;)

2005 was a long time ago.

There are a lot of juniors this year (that were in 8th grade during the Branson trip) who, along with everyone else, have made Powerhouse SO much better.

This year, they are certainly better than they were in 2005.

Agina was not in choir all four years of high school; she was not a member of Powerhouse in her sophomore year, which was 2005.

I love you amy, but I am disagreeing because there were so many amazing people in Powerhouse my freshman year. Our show is very different this year, and perhaps more impactful because of that. I can't really compare the two shows i guess because i don't ever get to watch us from the audience this year haha. BUT I loved the 2005 set, and if I were to make a connection, I think this years set may just be taking some of the intense emotion from "Earth Song" and channeling it into the entire set.
I am so ridiculously excited for this competition and I echo the kid that asked if next week could just come sooner! I also think it's really telling that everyone's predictions are so different, I can't wait to see everyone in person, we all know you-tube never compares.

see you in the windy city!! =)

Unfortunately for other competing choirs, Clinton's show this year may not wow an audience like some of their past shows... But it's still Clinton, the show (from the videos i've seen at SCA) is Strong enough in all the right places so that they will still do well. Thats the Genious that is David Fehr.... So we'll see what happens...

I agree, Clinton's show is still a Clinton show, and its going to be tough to beat. I just keep hearing so many great things about Powerhouse- I just have no idea whats going to happen anymore. I've made so many different predictions, but its just so dang up in the air. Next week needs to come sooner. lol

I have no doubt that Burroughs will bring it. I was just saying that Clinton got a deserved win at World Cup in 2005. That has nothing to do with this year.

EDIT: Thanks Orbie. That's surprising since she was in their 2004 show.

No problem.
Yeah she was in it in 2004
then she took off a year off.
Then joined again for 06-07 seasons.
So excited for this competition!!!

As far as NC feeling sour about States, I believe that Mr. Fehr will have the Attache kids ready to go for Chicago. They should feel shorted after not taking GC at Sullivan, so I believe that would be incentive for them. As far as the 2005 Branson competition, Clinton had an incredible show that year and, while Burroughs had an energy level that nobody matched, they were playing from behind the entire competiton. They barely made semi-finals and barely made finals. In fact, they were last going into finals, but they pulled into second place and still landed behind Clinton by (I think) 25 points. Powerhouse had great energy, but Clinton delievered the entire package. 2005 was my favorite Burroughs year, too, so it isn't because I didn't like Powerhouse. I just think that Clinton outdanced and outsang all of the other groups at the World Cup. By the way, I've always wondered this. Was Agina Alvarez in the 2005 Powerhouse group? Did she have a solo, because I never noticed that she did.

I guess i should have expressed firstly that, even though i said i think one choir should win over another, I understand that criteria on the scoresheet is not necessarily my criteria for who's the better choir. I get that judges are looking for a lot of things in pursuit of a fair way to score choirs, but at the same time Entertainment and Originality are in my opinion, way undervalued... but anyway

As for Branson, I Don't remember about Clinton Destroying burroughs like that in finals, i Do remember that it was a crazy comp, FC in 2nd going into semifinals (top 10) less than a couple points from Clinton, and JB in 4th i think, If i remember right, it was Clinton, FC, Totino, Burroughs, CRKenn. Then Burroughs moved up to second going into finals with FC out of finals (top 3 only) behind Totino grace by .5 it was REALLY tight for the most part, but as we just Watched finals, i didn't hear what point totals were like between Clinton Burroughs and Totino...

Regardless, after all of that, i knew clinton would win (even though i was bored with most of clinton's show... i mean, after you get over that they're perfect... ) But i enjoyed Burroughs show AND was impressed the entire time... and in my opinion that is the better choir... Not necessarily one who Panders to the scoresheet.

I'm excited to see them. I've always been a fan of Burroughs' shows. The only way I will get the chance to, though, is through DVD or YouTube, sadly " border="0" alt="crying.gif" />

No, Agina wasn't in the 2005 Powerhouse set.
which in return... she didn't have a solo... obviously.

Well, see you keep justifying the past. I know that all the groups are going to bring it their ALL.
But honestly, BOTH of these groups are completely different this year and have completely different shows...
i think you will be quite surprised by what burroughs is going to bring at this competition.

ok now i mentioned North Central isn't as incredible as everyone is making them out to be... BUT, i still think if anyone is going to beat clinton again this year it will be NC, And they are extremely hungry to prove themselves after getting what they consider a Ripoff Second place at Indiana State competition.

As for the guy who didn't know about Burroughs, My fav video of them is Still Earth Song from the finals at Branson 2005, they tore the house down with that show! No one at that competition, be it Clinton, Totino, FC, CRK, Nobody could come CLOSE to matching the energy in that show... Of course clinton won, but in my opinion that was all in a name...

In 2006, North Central, John Burroughs, Burbank, and Chula all went to fame NY and North Central won by a Decent Margin... In my opinion, Burroughs, North Central, Burbank, and Clinton are Easily in the top 5 show choirs in the country... Waubonsie is good, but these are groups who win GC after GC Every year...

NC was undefeated in 2004, they got ONE 2nd place iin 2005 to Teays valley at their first comp, 2006 they were undefeated, 2007 they again got one 2nd, at indiana state, 2008, so far they have won over most people as the "best choir in indiana" which is saying a lot, considering the groups that come from indiana...

I agree, there's no way to make predictions, because i keep thinking about changing mine... And that never happens... i usually have a pretty good solid idea of what i am expecting to happen.

I would agree with this for the most part.

I think JBHS will take best vocals. They are so phenomenal. With Clinton most likely taking BC and BB. So my predictions are as follows:

GC: JBHS
1RU: Clinton
2RU: North Central
3RU: Waubonsie Valley
4RU: Bloomington Kennedy
5RU: South Jones

Good luck to all!

I think it's safe to say that this competition has probably the biggest hype in the history of SCC (Correct me if I'm wrong Adam). 15 pages just here- and a bunch of other topics keep going back to who is going to win Chicago. I'm more excited for Chicago than I have been to see the Super Bowl, or even a Valley High School football game (and that my friends is saying a lot for me.) I hope everyone going and paying attention to this realizes just how big it is

I think that the only other topic I can come up with that would have been talked about this much would have been Big Dance 2006. I seriously think there might have been about 7 or 8 pages of predictions and analysis before the competition. I think that's huge for a regional competition, nothing compared to this but still cool.

I have to say that my random side trips to Des Moines to see Valley play football were the best spent two and a half hours of traveling ever...that football team is amazing!!!

To be completely honest, Chicago and everyone else won't know what hit them.....
Powerhouse I believe will dominate this competition...... maybe not by a lot... but I believe they will be on top.
