wow... that's all i can say...
i am just a little bit flabberghasted right now...

this is just my opinion, so don't be upset...
but i wasn't really impressed by pike's show... however, i didn't get to see it this week, so maybe it was much better?
i also really really didn't like dekalb's show... and nothing against the group, it just didn't do it for me...

i have noooo idea how huntington did not make finals; i heard their show was great, but also, i didn't personally see it, so...

and i don't care what anyone says... i LOVED north central's show... it was... incredible! and unprecedented... i don't know, it just made me so excited to watch it... oh, and the ballad soloist (i forget her name, sorry)-- i want to be her

that is all

Actually, it was 1998 when Varsity Singers did not make the night show at the Bishop Luers competition.

FC Singers, I'm so happy that I was able to be a part of your great day yesterday. It was a lot of fun, and I can't begin to tell you all how proud I am of the effort you gave in finals. Easily the best you've done all year, and a real statement about your desire! To High Voltage, you also gave a great finals performance, and should feel so good about how you all did last night. Overall a really great day FC!!
God Bless, Damon

By the way, props to Pike on a great show and victory.

Trivia Question. When was the last time HN did not make finals ? I remember in 1997, can you help if it is more recent ? Congrats to Pike what a good win for you!

Under a personal prefrence I did not like North Central's show at all. I prefer to watch show choir, not MTV. Did they do it well, yes. They do their shows incredibly well and their loser this yea is an amazing vocal section. But I think at some point "pushing the envelope" can go way to far. and remember guys, just because you love the show does not mean that they should win.

oh, and i think there may be a possibility that having to perform THAT show last in finals MAY have had something to do with why they were sloppy...

I was just wondering about North Central's set. What are the songs? What makes the show so out of the box? You make this show sound so exciting...so I was wondering if you could share more details about it

Thanks

Well I really don't want to share anything too much because, I think it has way more of an impact if you don't know whats coming. I will say in prelims they started off in the typical show choir fashion... Then they turn you upside down, and dance their rears off for about 15 minutes, and not, "show choir choreo"... Definitely the most difficult choreo i have seen for show choir. btw, WOW again WOODY. i can not stop thinking about this show... i don't know if i'm crazy or what... but geez

After all of that, they end their show with their ballad... And they sang the jebus out of it in prelims. My thought was "Hey look, we just won visuals by a fair margin and now we're going to sing the most trying number we have, cuz we're not tired, we're CP" LOL

I'm pretty sure it's now been 38 hrs since i slept btw... please be gentle

North Central - WOW! All i can say, is wow. Your show this year is SO unique. Outside the box in nearly every way i can think of, from the format to the vocal sound, to the choreo WHICH IS SO WICKED! Way to go Woody! This is your best stuff yet in my opinion. We all know i started the "Carmel best in the history of blah blah" right... Well they are going to have to Bring it a LOT harder this year if they're going to compete with that. If you ask me, North Central has completely altered the future of show choir with this set.

A he-yuge to all the Encores. It's been a loooong time since Pike had a win like this. So crazy. Your performance was just wow. Rocked it. Desire and Allan -- I still have chills from that spectacular ballad. I can't say enough how awesome all of you guys were. Makes me proud to be an alum.

And a to all the naysayers.

My personal opinion on placing:

GC: Franklin Central (best visual)- Great show. Awesome energy. Well done.

1RU: Warren Central (best vocal) - You guys got screwed over. PERFECT vocals. You have your own style of dancing. Unique. Not bad at all. Just... different. You should have placed SOOOOO much better.

2RU: Pike

3RU: North Central - You guys ROCKED IT OUT during the day show. What happened during finals?!?! Moves were SOOOO sloppy and vocals were average at best. Very disappointed.

4RU: DeKalb

My opinion.

See? this is all i wanted to hear! If NC had a down show i totally get it! it's a Rockin show, but it has to be at the level they performed at prelims otherwise i'm sure it'd come off as a sloppy train wreck... So difficult i think.

I Have strayed from putting FC in 1st place in my "placings" for a long time now...

But i can 100% see how they could be best visual with that show, and would have been very close to best vocals at this particular contest.

I really think that this year's FC Singers are a force to be reckoned with and will do very well at Fame Orlando!

I'm very sorry to hear that the night show didn't go well for north Central. I had them way ahead in visual and near the top in vocals... figured they'd pull it out easily... all goes to show that anything can happen!

Congrats to all the choirs today.

And PIKE!

I am SO SORRY for not believing in you guys. I did love the show, and in fact after prelims I saw your director and made sure to shake his hand and tell him how impressed i was with this show vs last years.

I thought your prelims show was a little sloppy. I really didn't think the vocals were quite there, or that the visuals were necessarily astounding. But that could have been just because of the view from where i was sitting. I do see VERY clean lines in the videos of you from warren.

Warren - I still think you guys should have been higher up... i had you 4th in visuals and 1st in vocals after prelims. You really do sing well!

I was not there during the day show. I only came for finals.

My opinion on rankings was as follows (I thought the mixed results AND the girls results were a little weird):

Girls:
GC: Franklin Central (Vocals)

1RU: North Central (Visuals... the vocals were NOT there tonight)

2RU: Highland (Wow... A new director and new choreographer this year and you are just as good as always. I was VEEEEEEERY impressed with your vocals tonight. Tighten up the visual aspect of your show and the rest of your season should be quite amazing!)

3RU: Dekalb (I was impressed visually as always just didn't have the vocals where they needed to be tonight.)

Mixed:
GC: Franklin Central (Vocals)

1RU: North Central (Visuals... choreo was stunning and original and very fitting as usual. However I felt like the only Vocally powerful number was your ballad. We need to be able to dance AND sing)

2RU: Pike (AAAAAMAZING YEAR FOR YOU GUYS! I knew you were forming your comeback with your win at Anderson last year but WOOOOOOOOOW! Awesome guys!)

3RU: Dekalb (While I believe this is the strongest I've seen you vocally in a very long time the competition was toooooooooough tonight. Keep up the good work)

4RU: Warren Central (Now... I've never really been a Warren Central fan but I had heard good things this year so I went in with an open mind. Your show is PHENOMENAL... I'm just not so sure about all your solos overpowering your choir. The ballad is to show off the choirs vocal ability and sadly I didn't hear that tonight because your two soloists simply overpowered the rest of the choir as was the case with most of them. Don't get me wrong your soloists are amazingly talented kids. Try to find a good balance between the two.)

Those are my personal opinions. But what's done is done. Its shaping up to be quite a year in the show choir world.

okay...your choir didnt get 1st...will you just calm down and let it go...it happened and all they can do is work to get better....the season isn`t over yet...

And buddy, MY alma mater is Franklin Central. These results are very good for the FC Singers, considering this field and last years history

I'm trying to defend a choir i have literally no connection to...

why is this wrong?

i'm just going to sit back and read for a few days now...

Alright.

I give in...

Pike... You have had an awesome season, and as much as anything, i love to see a choir we don't hear about every day win out over the big dogs.

Congratulations on your win! Good Luck and keep up the hard work! Looks like you must have really stepped it up tonight!

North Central - Don't get down... I don't really understand it. I personally loved the show. and everyone around me (other than Old ladies that seemed to be a little offended at the slightly risque choreo in this show) Pretty much knew it was over.

Franklin Central - This is probably the best show you have ever had to work with. Damon and Jarad have given you really effective and interesting choreo. Bye Bye Blackbird was the epitome of what that song should be in show choir. You are redefining yourselves as a sophisticated, classy group that can hang with the 30 year veterans of sequin and hair pieces.

Warren - Really nice this year I'm kind of out of things to say right now, because i can't believe that dekalb beat you.
