I've just heard some GREAT news about Southern Showcase this year.
There will be a FINALS this year. This is a preliminary report that I assure you is accurate, but I don't yet know the details of how the Finals will work.

PRCC's comp kind of ceased to exist after last year if I'm not mistaken. They held the competition in Petal last year for the PRCC, but this year there is only one competition in Petal, and it happens to be on the same day as Opelika. I'm pretty sure it's the Petal Invitational (could be wrong of course).
With that said, I think it goes without saying that Petal won't be there, but Cody said that Feb 10th was an open day for SJ... so even though it's not looking very likely that SJ will come to Southern Showcase, I'm still not completely giving up on you guys.
And it's great that you guys are coming down for the comp? I don't believe you guys have been before have you? Maybe once? I don't remember... I remember that there was another Tennessee group that came a couple of times... I can't remember there name at the moment though?

Are you serious? Only the biggest show choir guru in the country, Matt, is a BCHS graduate. Of course, if you ask him, he'll tell you that he doesn't know as much as people think he knows (but don't listen to him).

Well I think the reasoning behind the off week is mostly financially driven (don't quote me on that though, because I'm not 100% positive). SJ stays two nights every time they go out of town (Homewood, Nashville, Opelika, etc.). With them attending a cruise this year, I believe they were trying to not have to pay so much in competition fees, bus rentals, hotel costs, etc.
that's awesome that Mt. Zion will be there! I wish Petal hadn't moved their competition so we could have more folks at Opelika...oh well. (p.s. South Jones should skip the "Off Week"...)
Now an "Off Week" we can deal with. It's time for the SJ folks to start lobbying to come to Opelika. I'm sure you guys would like a chance to compete with Mt. Zion!
