To all who made predictions, remember that there are seven finalists at MoShow. The auditorium winner is also added into finals.

I'll toss out some tentative predictions. These might change after this weekend. I think the group I'd be most likely to move around is Craig based on their performance at Totino-Grace.

Seeing as I've only seen one of these groups live, these predictions are sure to be wrong. However I have heard opinions of some of these shows from people that I trust when it comes to these things, so here's my (un)educated guess:

GC: Cedar Rapids Xavier
1RU: Cedar Rapids Kennedy
2RU: Waukee
3RU: Janesville Craig
4RU: Mundelein
5RU: Milton
6RU: Benton Community

BV: Xavier
BC: Kennedy
BB: Xavier

I may have to make an appearance...

I haven't seen most these groups but I do believe that Xavier will win best band.

@Jimmy: Guys stretching... bring it back lol

Predictions

GC: CR Kennedy
1RU: CR Xavier
2RU: Janesville Craig
3RU: Waukee
4RU: Mundelein
5RU: Davenport North

BV: Xavier
BC: Kennedy
BB: Janesville Craig

I think Davenport North will win one of the solo awards too.

The only group I could see replacing Davenport North as 5RU would obviously be Milton. This late in the season, however, I think North is going to be solid contender for finals.

I agree, although could see Milton taking BB, as well as placing 3-4-5RU. This is really tough...
I guess I'd say (IMO)

GC: CR Kennedy
1RU: CR Xavier
2RU: Waukee
3RU-5RU: Craig, Milton, Mundelein (In any order.)

It'll be interesting to see how it works out. I'm really excited! Unfortunately I wont be attending. (Don't get too excited, Lizhale60, it has nothing to do with the empty messages you continue to harass me with anonymously. But thanks for the laughs!)

Any word on judges?

*Bump*

This is gonna be a really really close competition. I'm gonna make some predictions:

GC: CR Kennedy
1RU: CR Xavier
2RU: Waukee
3RU: Janesville Craig
4RU: Mundelein
5RU: Davenport North

BV: Xavier
BC: Kennedy
BB: Xavier

It's gonna be a dogfight to get into finals. I put North as 5RU because it seems like they are sneaking into finals everywhere they go Milton, Protege, and Lights are gonna be right there clawing their way through this competition. I'm very excited I get to enjoy these great show choirs all day long! I am bringing a friend who has never been to a show choir competition before!! YAY!

lol the same as any other competition I suppose. Except the judging panel. 3 scoring judges in prelims in both centers with 2 critique judges for each center. Then in finals all 10 judges will score finals. For finals only the highest score and the lowest score for each group is dropped, and then the remaining 8 scores are averaged together. This sometimes causes confusing because a group can beat another group by .06 points (.5 divided by 8) The large judging panel really makes it difficult to have big judging controversies.

Ah that brings back memories. At Mo Show 08, Craig beat Milton for the first time ever. It was crazy, but the funny thing was that we won by .02 or some tiny number like that

Mo-Show is a very relaxed competition. If you are chill you will love it. If you like a lot of order, you might not like the competition so much. This will be Mundelein and Waukee's first time to Mo-Show, and Davenport North's first time back in 7 years, so it will be a new and exciting competition this year!!! I can only come for day rounds because I am doing a show that night but i'm SO excited to see all the groups! I've now seen every group live except Waukee.

Haha...Mo-Show and order do not mix at all...hosts in crazy costumes, riding down the halls on skates and scooters, stupid student tricks! This competition is so much fun! I know the Milton kids are all really excited about returning to Mo-Show this year!

I'm really really excited now! I wish I knew more of the groups so I could make predictions or even just have an idea of how it might go, but I guess I'll just have to make them after I see all the groups. That will be fun. It will be interesting to see how Mundelein and Waukee do!

I'm just guessing here, but I would assume that the rule change came about to encourage more groups from out of state (i.e. Illinois) to attend competitions in Iowa without concern of losing out on performers who are in both a single gender and mixed group. As to how the rule is enforced, and whether the situation you address is a violation of that rule, i have no idea, but I would guess that would fall into a grey area, since you are talking about tech crew for single gender/performer mixed group. Again I am just guessing here, but I would say that would be an instance where unless another group cries 'foul', the hosts of the competition would just let it go, so that they could continue to attract as many groups as possible, and not piss anybody off.

I mean it completely makes sense. This will be the first time Sound has been back to Iowa since the Great River debacle in 2005. Lights and SoundFX were at Great River one year though.

What if the girls group had guys on crew that sang a song as a quartet and then also performed in the mixed group? Cuz I definitely saw that happen this year at an Iowa competition.

Actually, I'm not sure that is still the case. I saw a post in another forum (don't remember which one) where Storm said that they had made an adjustment to that a couple of years ago. The change did not allow sharing of groups with 'like' compositions, but did allow for sharing in groups of 'different' compositions. So for instance if a girl wanted to be in both an all girls group and a mixed group that would be ok, but could not be in two mixed groups.

This is correct. I saw it on the IHSMA website when I was looking for information about state competition. A member is allowed to be in one "Single-Gender" group and one "mixed" group now in Iowa. Don't know when that rule was changed, but it has been changed.
