I think Urbandale could take BB as well, because those Iowa groups’ bands ALWAYS pull it

I’m honestly shocked no one is predicting Entourage winning Best Band, though this is super stacked for bands. They are just as good as always!!

Predictions:
GC: Solon “Music in Motion”
1RU: Urbandale “Studio”
2RU: Wheaton North “Flight”
3RU: Glenwood “Titan Fever”
4RU: Twinsburg “Great Expectations”
5RU: Brandon “Brio”

Honestly, captions are a toss up, but I think Solon will come out on top. They totally killed at Medina yesterday and beat Fairfield for the first time in over four years. They really stepped it up this year, I watched the livestream and they absolutely killed it (my jaw hit the floor). I’ve seen a toss up between Glenwood and Wheaton North so that could be interchangeable as well. This is going to be an amazing competition I can’t wait to see it!!!

If anybody is interested in seeing Twinsburg and Solon both are available (for now at least) at the following link to the Medina finals:

Brandon Brio competed pretty well in Loveland, and I am hoping we will perform even better here. We are really excited to branch out and travel long distance for a second time this year to see all of these groups!

In general I agree with these predictions.
Edit: I hope this is better. Reading through the post I totally see what you are talking about. Sorry.

I agree with most of what you said but if you think Urbandale preforms, just wait until you see Solon. I have friends that saw them at FIndlay and they could not stop going on about it. Sure Urbandale might be the most clean but I can sense the potential in Solon this year.

I think what you're saying about these choirs is kinda rude. Of course you're entitled to your opinion but these students work SO hard every day to make a show that can entertain an audience, and I understand the whole prediction thing, but for you to say the things you think are bad about the choirs is really demeaning and uncalled for. If I were a member of any of the choirs you criticized above, I'd be offended. I agree that Solon has an awesome chance because they totally slayed at Findlay FEst, and Glenwood is always amazing, it's not right to take anything away from these choirs when they all work so hard

Predictions are difficult by their nature because if you're saying one group will take first place, you're saying five others won't. In one sense, that could be interpreted as rude - but the reality of competiton is simply that one group is going to win and five others aren't. Picking a winner doesn't mean those other five are worthless.

I think it is good to talk out what goes into these predictions - especially from a student's standpoint - as they can be discussed and the community can learn what may or may not be relevant in a score. A lot of these things are simply observations as well - subjective ones at that - so you can't take them personally. I have to believe Ethan is not wishing any malice on any of the groups he mentioned; he is simply giving his prediction of how the placements will turn out and providing his justification for those choices. That seems more valuable and productive to me than just a list of groups.

Everyone has a different way of interpreting what is written so we should be as respectful as we can in the posts we make, but for example, I have been to contests in some places where the diction is extremely over-emphasized and to me that's a huge turnoff. But in those contests it may be a quality which is highly valued. If I say "I don't care for Group A's style of diction at all and I wouldn't place them highly," it doesn't mean I'm saying the group doesn't work hard. It's just one person's opinion about a particular group's approach. And if they go on to win, then they've proved me wrong!

Even you yourself even remarked that "Solon has an awesome chance," and if they win, that means someone else won't. I don't interpret that as you slighting the other groups, either. When reading these predictions, just take them as a way to better understand how others see shows, a source of inspiration to work harder if you aren't the one chosen to take it all, or simply with a grain of salt if you don't agree with any of it. But don't let it get under your skin... I think the posters are just having fun and trying to figure out how things will play out the best they can. Sometimes they are way off, and sometimes they are spot on!

You're fine. We just have to keep in mind this is a large community with many different perspectives and show choir is a unique and varied beast! I appreciate your input as well as everyone else who contributes here and I would much rather you have a place to comment where we can all discuss and grow together than just be anonymous on Twitter slinging arrows at each other. Just be as respectful as possible and remember that whether you are posting or just reading, we are all here because we love show choir.
