Thanks Mr. Anderson!

Last year their lineup was so stacked that Mr. Anderson decided to add a seventh open class group to finals.

Well i knew that there was a 7th group in finals last year. I was just hoping that meant the prep group was going to compete. But thanks for clearing that all up Mr. Anderson!!!

Becasue Supernova is a Saturday only contest this year we decided to offer an exhibition performance in the Finals Compeition to the Prep Grand Champion. Therefore the Prep Grand Champion will do and exhibition only performance following 10th Street Edition at the beginning of the Finals Competition. The Prep Grand Champion performance is EXHIBITION ONLY! They are not competing in the finals. Only the top six Open Class groups from the Preliminary Day Round are competing for placement in the Finals Competition.

Hopefully this explanation helps to clear up confusion.

ok still confused. The results area on the website lists a 2010 6th Runner-Up, with a separate section for prep results... so is the prep group competing again or not? there's no rulebook to check with.

Now I'm wondering if the top scoring prep group is actually competing in finals or not. Found this schedule for finals on the Supernova website:

Supernova Finals Saturday Night
7:00 p.m. Linn-Mar 10th Street Edition
7:25 p.m. Exhibition Performance by Prep Division Grand Champion

I think you're right Mr. Temple. That's sad though. I really think the prep group should actually get to compete. I mean prep groups have earned a finals spot at Mo-Show and they actually get scored. I can imagine not wanting to go onstage again just for exhibition, I personally would not want to. I'd rather sit back and watch the varsity groups if I wasn't even getting scored.

(I say this cuz I'm hoping Mr. Anderson will come on here and change the rules!!!!)

LET PREP GROUPS COMPETE!!!!

hmmm interesting new rules. I am pretty positive Celebration has never beaten either of these two prep groups at Supernova. At Great River Celebration has beaten Protege.... but historically LM has never been Wash's competition- varsity or prep)

I'm gonna go with:

GC: Urbandale "Studio 2010" (I know by now not to expect another champ lol)
1RU: Totino-Grace "Company of Singers"
2RU: Bemidji "Vocalmotive"
3RU: Cedar Rapids Kennedy "Happiness, Inc."
4RU: Cedar Rapids Washington "Momentum"
5RU: Urbandale "Vitality"
6RU: Sioux Falls Washington "Classic Connection"

Urby sweep.... wouldn't expect it any other way at Supernova...

I think these predictions are solid, so I am going to have to agree with you on this!

I found this on the Supernova Website.

"The band judge, plus two additional clinic judges, will join the three scoring judges to evaluate the Saturday evening finals that will involve the top six scoring groups from the Saturday Open Class Competition, and the top scoring group in the Prep Division."

So, assuming that is true...

The Open Groups would be:
CR Washington/Momentum
CR Kennedy Happiness, Inc.
Urbandale Studio 2010
Bemidji Vocalmotive
Totino-Grace Company of Singers
SF Washington Classic Connection
Waterloo West West Side Story

And the prep groups would be:
CR Washington Celebration
CR Kennedy Protégé
Urbandale Vitality

There is also a ninth grade division.

Now I'm wondering if the top scoring prep group is actually competing in finals or not. Found this schedule for finals on the Supernova website:

Supernova Finals Saturday Night
7:00 p.m. Linn-Mar 10th Street Edition
7:25 p.m. Exhibition Performance by Prep Division Grand Champion
7:50 p.m. Group 2
8:15 p.m. Group 3
Break
8:50 p.m. Group 4
9:15 p.m. Group 5
9:40 p.m. Group 6
10:05 p.m. Group 7

Finals Award Ceremony at approximately 10:45 p.m.

Jay,
jr. year we beat Vitality and then senior year we beat Protege. I'm like... 99.99999% positive.

And i am also very glad to hear some active wash members come on here... glad to not being alone, lol

Well I know you got 2nd junior year (shouldve been 1st)... I didn't remember Vitality being there. I don't remember senior year results for LM. so you very well may be right. my bad.

btw it has come to my attention that some Wash people ACTUALLY peruse the site. DON'T let my predictions discourage you. I can promise you I've never gotten a prediction right ever, and I'm 0-2 so far this year lol. Work your BUTTS off this week and perform lights out, and I KNOW that with some Warrior Spirit you can shock EVERYONE with your show!

GO WARRIORS!!!!!!

How are finalists determined this year? Is it top six scoring groups regardless of competing class or is it the top 5 open class groups and the top prep group?

Im confused...

SOOO excited to see everyone's show!!! I'll be there with COS

You're in for a treat. Linn Mar is always one of the smoothest run competitons. I reccomend getting there early and not moving for the whole day tho, seats fill up quick!

My Prediciton for Finalists-

CR Washington Momentum
CR Kennedy Happiness, Inc.
Urbandale Studio 2010
Bemidji Vocalmotive
Totino-Grace Company of Singers

With the spot going to the best "prep" group (as we can all agree these are no ordinary prep groups)
Either
Celebration/Vitality/Protege

Can't wait to see finals!! Is there a schedule yet?

Katie!! I am coming to watch you guys!! Hastings will be elsewhere, but I am soooo coming to root for my second favorite show choir, after mine (lol, sorry. I am a little biased). I cannot wait!!

YAY!!! thanks Marty!!!

Here are the competing groups:

CR Washington/Momentum
CR Washington Celebration
CR Washington Vivace
CR Kennedy Happiness, Inc.
CR Kennedy Protégé
CR Kennedy/Chanteurs
Urbandale Studio 2010
Urbandale Vitality
Bemidji Vocalmotive
Totino-Grace Company of Singers
SF Washington Classic Connection
Waterloo West West Side Story

When looking at this list, I am left with a lot of questions.

How will Urbandale come out of the gate for Woodin's last year? Will they continue to dominate this competition?

Will Kennedy improve on their finish from Viterbo?

How will Totino do with year 2 of April James?

Who are the six finalists? Will (Can) having the prep groups on Saturday change that?
