no i didnt mean it like that, no need to be an *******.
i ment the fact im pretty damn sure they worked together last year, which honestly for me puts him on a personal level with the kids. subconsciously he may judge them harsher than another group because he knows different things about some kids individually

Wasn't being a ******. Which curse word is that even?

Gates was a clinician with Xhilaration last season. Just to make it very very clear, Gates has done nothing with Xhilaration this year.

I think if you limit judges to just people that have never been associated with or worked with any of the groups competing, you really limit the judging pool.

Back on topic for the competition - one of the things I am most excited about seeing is Xhilaration's undefeated band going up against what is always an incredible band for West Side Delegation. I know WSD usually relies on the horns and brass, and Xhilaration this year has a huge emphasis on guitars and percussion, so I guess we'll see what Scott Weber prefers!

He also could be making an assumption that because Gates and Cris are brothers that they also share the same brain. So- Because Alex Hall choreographs for Bishop Dwenger and Chesterton, obviously Erik Hall should never judge those groups? Same for Bill & Bob Schrank as directors in Wisconsin? I don't think so.

And because Alex Peters is a member of Totino-Grace, Adam Peters should not be allowed either. :-P (I actually really don't care because if we get into this topic too much it will open up a whole level of judging questions that will probably ruin show choir)

Not sure i feel about this since Xavier is there. feels kinda bias.
I believe that Gates was originally the outstanding performer judge, and was then asked to become a table judge. So, in my eyes Benton didn't view it as a problem, and you are correct Spencer. Gates has not worked with Xhilaration this competition season.

I don't believe Gates has worked with Xhilaration at all this year. He may have worked with Xuberance in a clinician capacity, though.

(Any current Xavier show choir member, correct me if I'm wrong!)

I don't think it is up to any of us to assume why a group decides whether or not to compete at a certain competition or not. There are many many many factors to decide which competition to go to like cost, judging, atmosphere, travel, schedule conflicts, kids feelings, rules, weather (it seems like there is ALWAYS a blizzard the weekend of Benton). Unless you are reading the minds of the group, it is not up for us to spread rumors.

Even I can't speak for my school, but along with the above reasons, it could just be that staying closer to home= lower cost for the season.

That was my other guess

I would assume part of the issues of the *small* scoring mishap and then the speaker that caught on flames during their performance... but I'm not their director so I couldn't speak for exactly why... but those would be two issues i would have with coming back.

Does anybody know why Sioux City East is not returning?
