Thanks to the person who was trying to get the girls results up but as I can see it is still all about the mixed groups. congrats to all the groups!

I'm thinking my contacts phone must've died at the competition. I'll try to get them to you ASAP!

That's really ridiculous, though. It just, in a way and I don't mean it sound offensive, shows how sheltered the Southern region is in regard to show choir. It's not just Albertville and Burroughs that do these types of shows. There's a lot on the West coast and even a growing number in the Midwest that are performing complex, story, theatrical, non-jazz hands types of shows. Even Clinton has developed stories, complexities, etc. Maybe more of them should join this site to see all the diversity and see that Albertville really isn't choir going the non-traditional route.

Completely agree with you! But unfortunately, the South is known for being backwards and ignorant. So why should the show choir world be any different? I really wish it was. But that's the world we live in.

I don't think they're theatrical just to beat Clinton.... but that's just my opinion.

Correct you are. Haha! But it's pretty much an unspoken goal for every Southern show choir to beat Clinton, whether they'll admit it or not. Let's face it, they're the best. So, naturally, everyone wants to beat them. LOL!

People hating on Albertville for being theatrical?!?! SHOW CHOIR 2013 season has started

Haha! This is true. It seems to happen every year. Apparently people still haven't figured out that Albertville is a theatrical show choir. Scott Rains figured out years ago that you can't beat Clinton at their own game(they're the best since they invented it). So now he's trying to best them using another game. Haha! And I quite like it! I hope they keep getting more and more theatrical every year. Maybe one day they'll be as good or better than John Burroughs! One can dream right?!?!?!

I'm watching a musical at a show choir competition...this is a major problem. #GoHomeAlbertville
ATTENTION ALL SHOW CHOIR MEMBERS: the rules have changed. The group that spends the most money wins. And in 1st place...Albertville. #GoHome

I really don't like twitter, although it comes in handy for results sometimes. I just don't get why it seems every year there are people specifically in the Southern region that ridicule and ostracize Albertville. I mean, who do they think they are to define what is and what is not show choir? Based off of her tweets, I'm actually excited to see Albertville's show, because I appreciate creativity.

Obviously whoever this is doesn't know that there is more than one type of show choir. There's Southern show choir(which she is most likely used to and is what Clinton does), Midwest show choir, and theatrical show choir(which is what Albertville and John Burroughs like to do).

I am not talking about one choir I do not have anyone in a choir. I just think the girls choirs do not get the respect that the mixed choirs do. My choir next to my name is Enterprise Esprit but I do not have a anyone in that choir I am just from that area and have always enjoyed watching that choir.

It's sad to be that people can't appreciate theatrical as much as they appreciate traditional. Albertville puts on a show (to me personally, better than anyone else) and they sing well. (choir) Put it together and it's show choir. I don't see what the big deal is with people hating on theatrical. The judges obviously like it or else they wouldn't of placed them 1st in pre lims. I have also seen lots of mean tweets directed toward Albertville. Personally, I love it.

Anyways, great job Albertville and ALL other choirs who competed today!

While we all have a bias for our home choirs, we must be completely unbiased when judging at competitions. As much as I would love for Albertville CenterStage to win every comp and sweep all captions I know that groups are sometimes better than them. I try to look at it as unbiased as possible and give honest opinions based on what I see.
