Forecast: Sunny and 31 degrees! With ZERO percent chance of snow!!

Nine days from now that will probably turn into a wind chill of -25, fifty MPH winds and 12 inches of snow

Does anybody know what happened to Iowa City West at Omaha Westside's competition last weekend? They are usually pretty solid...they didn't even make finals. Ethan Price had them in second after day rounds.

All we know is that we got place 2nd, 4th, and 9th and we were 5 points away from finals.
We also know that no points were deducted for time. But I appreciate all the compliments about our show
And you know, this is show choir, it's full of weird surprises

I am leaning towards 2RU for Prairie and 3RU for IC West but it's difficult without seeing the shows myself!

That's how I'd put it and I've seen all the shows. IC West might sing a bit better, but Prairie's show more than makes up for it IMO.

After hearing some things from people who have seen shows, my predictions will change somewhat.

Top two spots: CR Jefferson / CR Xavier (any order)
Middle two spots: CR Prairie / IC West (any order)
4RU: Lincoln Southwest
5RU: Norwalk or Danville

I am leaning towards 2RU for Prairie and 3RU for IC West but it's difficult without seeing the shows myself!

All i heard was that at omaha one judge ranked iowa city west 2nd, one ranked them 4th, and the other judge ranked them 9th. So in the end, Iowa City West tied for 7th with 5 points away from finals.

Probably what happened to Washington at Linn-Mar. The judges just didn't get the show. I saw them at Linn-Mar and a few of their early concerts. They are very solid this year. I very much enjoy the ballad and closer. But I can see how they could get docked on choreography and show design, and maybe vocals if the judges liked a bigger sound rather than better. Iowa City West doesn't sing big, they just sing well.

I will throw out some sure to be wrong, almost totally blind predictions:

GC: Cedar Rapids Jefferson / Cedar Rapids Xavier
1RU: Cedar Rapids Jefferson / Cedar Rapids Xavier
2RU: Cedar Rapids Prairie
3RU: Lincoln Southwest
4RU: Iowa City West
5RU: Norwalk

I pretty much agree with these. I just wouldn't be surprised if Prairie did super well here. I absolutely LOVE their show. It is so much fun and really exciting. But, on the other hand, Prairie has never won GC here and Jefferson, Xavier, and Lincoln Southwest all have.

I heard half the choir came down with leprosy.

I heard their choreography was all "armography", now... not so much.

I don't think it is up to any of us to assume why a group decides whether or not to compete at a certain competition or not. There are many many many factors to decide which competition to go to like cost, judging, atmosphere, travel, schedule conflicts, kids feelings, rules, weather (it seems like there is ALWAYS a blizzard the weekend of Benton). Unless you are reading the minds of the group, it is not up for us to spread rumors.
