Now that I see the list of judges, it is not surprising. Just as parents can be a little biased, so too can judges that have relationships with certain schools. I think kids need to learn disappointment and that sometimes not always the most talented people win because there are relationships and biases formed that give certain people/groups an advantage. Any adult who’s been through this process at any stage looks back on this and identifies it and realizes what we learned from it. Frankly, I’ve always believed that there should be a standard judging process and point system across the board for all events. We all know this is not the case. But what is most inspiring is watching these kids fight and perform their hearts out week after week. More important than winning is not being defeated.
Everyone has an opinion and the judges job is to watch the groups and give THEIR opinion on who they thought deserved the placement they earned. Everything about show choir scores and judging is subjective to the person watching. The judges had an opinion that was different from yours and that's A okay, but to say that they did a bad job judging based on your own opinions being different from theirs is unfair to the rest of the groups who worked hard for their placements.
Just to be clear, before we posted performance order (literally just now when Ian shared it), our order above said finals were "groups in no particular order."
Not surprised that Waconia is in 1st, that closer was killer!! In fact, their whole show was insanely good from the costumes, to the choreography, to the vocals, to the ripping band. I’m so excited to see where this season takes them!!
