I have to agree with several other people. I don’t think it’s right for a director to demand someone to remove their post. It is merely the persons opinion on what they believe will happen this weekend. I think Holmen will be 5th runner up. There are some very good groups that will be there today. Holmen has lost several really good team members due to graduation. They have been working hard but not sure their show us gc level just yet. I think Express will get 4th or 5th runner up. I think Magic has a good show. The girls are working hard with their new director. I predict 2 nd or 3rd runner up for Magic. Just want to put it out there..directors don’t demand someone to remove their post when it’s just their prediction. I see nothing wrong with that persons post. Check your attitude at the door! Good luck to all groups today. Have fun and work hard. May the best team win.
I'm interested to see how the groups compare based solely on if this is their first comp of the season or not. I think that groups that competed last weekend have a little bit of an advantage just because they've gotten feed back and started improving their show. That doesn't mean that the other groups (that didn't compete last weekend) are going to be terrible or not as good though. Should be a fun day!
To play devil’s advocate, some of my groups in the past had a “sophomore slump” where they came out of their first competition too confident and were complacent in Week 2.
Predictionsss - Show Choir is crazy so these could be way off, but here’s my take!
GC: Hastings (BV, BB)
1RU: Bemidji (BC)
2RU: ATSC
3RU: Waconia
4RU: Neenah
5RU: Logan/De Pere
While the powerhouses of Waconia, Hastings, ATSC and Bemidji sit at the top, there is a real fight for finals at 4RU and 5RU. While Neenah’s shocking run at Colby may solidify them at 4RU, I see believe Jam Session and The Class Act wil clash for the last spot. Logan, who ran away with a grand champion trophy at Parkview still has much to prove as the competition displayed weak competitors. I would imagine the same result if De Pere, Holmen, or Milton were the lone upper level group at the same competition. However, why did I pick Jam session over Holmen? While Holmen did edge out De Pere at Colby, their show did not possess the excitement x-factor that they had the year before and I believe the change in judges at Onalaska will see different results. For Milton, Onalaska being their first competition will be the big difference. For Holmen, Logan, AND De Pere, Onalaska will be their second competition of the season, where Milton is yet to perform. That being said, this makes Milton a true variable. Don’t be surprised if they sneak into finals or overwhelmingly underperform. All in all, I expect an awesome clash for finals between Logan and De Pere! Can’t wait to see the results!!!
Trust me, all groups from Mayville to Reedsburg at Parkview (i didn't get to see Plymouth) are strong competitors. This was the best I've seen Mayville in four years and Reedsburg had vocals comparable to groups like Holmen and possibly even Janesville Craig. Obviously, I'm not mad that you didn't put us in finals because you did. I just want to make sure that the groups that haven't been as good in the past that competed at Parkview get the recognition they deserve.
Don’t get me wrong, there were definitely SOME good groups that performed really well. However, Parkview doesn’t possess a plethora of high tier choirs like Colby did or Onalaska will. Although I believe Logan truly did well with a close to sweep, I’d love to see you guys prove yourself on a bigger stage. Excited to see the results!!
"the competition displayed weak competitors" is kind a rude comment to say when there are people who day in and day out put in large amounts of effort and dedication towards what they do. At every competition no matter who is there, every group should be consider strong competition, every competition has new judges, new setting, and new groups to compete against, you never know how results will turn out from judges point of view. Saying logan had "weak competitors" and that why they got grand champs is kinda bogus, each and every group worked hard to get the place and awards they did, they deserved it, it was not given to them because "the competition was weak"
I mean, yes that’s nice but for the purpose of trying to make predictions what place a group got doesn’t matter really in the slightest. It matters who you beat. You can’t argue that some groups aren’t typically better than other groups. Of the competitions in Wisconsin last weekend, Parkview did not have the deepest competition. La Crosse Central and Logan both got grand championships. Central beat a big Iowa school that has such a strong program their prep group got 4th. Logan beat Reedsburg who didn’t perform their whole set in the final round. Doesn’t mean Logan isn’t good just means I would put my money on Central if those two schools were to meet.
Totally agree.. There is nothing wrong with making a prediction off of the teams a group faced. I respect Logan a lot, I never had negative intentions towards the group themselves. Who they won against is a key component in the prediction process. Sorry to anyone I offended.
