There's Mundy people on here, but I believe EEE, WV, WWS, and MTZ are all not allowed to post on here. Kinda depressing, really.

I think part of it may be the geography of Illinois show choirs....if you look at Indianapolis or Cedar Rapids, there are about 20 big show choirs within an hour of each other... (I may be completely wrong on this one) and they tend to go to each others competitions and may develop rivalries/friendships with each other more easily. Whereas in Illinois the may be a bigger show choir every hour's drive (Manteno and Mt. Zion are 2.5 hours away from each other)....

Dunno though

I have found that the SCC forums are kind of dominated by Indy schools, the Cedar Rapids/Davenport schools, and some from Ohio....(not completely representative just an observation) I rarely see any Illinois people on here. I do know some directors ask their students to not post on here so that may be the case. Who knows?

You don't see respresentation from a lot of the big choirs in IL, and I've never really noticed this till you brought it up.

EEE, MTZ, Mundelein, WW, WV are the main ones that you never see.

It's not too big of a stretch to put Findlay near the top of any show choir "ranking". they are just always good. But of course you cannot rank choirs from different regions that have never competed and often don't even have similar judging systems.

But yes, if a choir has a consistent record of high finishes then why not consider them a top choir? It's all for fun anyway. If you have a great choir not on the list, you'll have plenty of chances to compete and show your stuff!

I HAVE heard of Eisenhower, we have competed against them, and in years past they were SOLID. And if I'm not mistaken, Alan Shephard was at a recent Luers Invitational competition. This will be a good competition!

I would like to see more promotion of show choirs, they deserve more recognition. Similar to sports, show choir competitions are thrilling, and other than the show choir community, not enough people have been exposed to the amazing talent. More things like "rating systems" and standardized scoring systems help add interest and make show choir more interesting and understandable to the "general" public. So my hats off to the people doing things (like this site) to help!

yeah the local newspapers rank the areas best football and basketball teams. why don't they do that with show choir? haha... and they start putting state finals on tv!

No...I think its bull that your number 7 on it you should be pushed back....I mean my first thought that it was rigged was that Findlay was number one for a while....honestly? and Teays Valley at number 25! I could prolly name about 25 different choirs that arn't on the list better than them...just saying that system is rigged

The system seems to be Ohio-centric.

I'm talking about the person saying "you should be pushed back cuz it's rigged and blah blah blah blah". No one should be upset/proud about placements on there, because it doesn't mean anything.

Now carry on

Nobody is using it as "an argument" for anything. It's being used as "an advertisement" as in "these are some pretty good show choirs" Now I know that the SC ranking system isn't all that respected or very accurate. There are major flaws in their system. I think we can agree that all the choirs on that list are "very good show choirs" To get on that list you must have finished very high at a good competition against other good show choirs.

The point is, their are some very good show choirs competing and if your not doing anything else that day, you ought to come out and watch. That could be said for any competition featuring a show choir on that list. Nobody said anything in regards to "X is better than Y", and the ranking on that site was not used as "an argument" for anything. The post wasn't meant to have the thread hijacked and turned into a referendum on the validity and accuracy of the SC Ranking System.

The Bishop Luers poster mentioned that they didn't recognize any of the other choirs, and I thought it appropriate to point out using that example, that the competition they would face is adequate.

That is all. Carry on.

Anyone who uses the SCRS as a point for their argument needs to be slapped in the face. If you get all up in arms about it then you've got some big problems

I don't think there is any way to rank the choirs in the US....1. everyone hasn't competed against one another 2. everyone is biased to their own choir/state/region 3. styles of choirs are very different (apples to oranges) 4. judges are different at each competition

AND who cares what everyone thinks is your RANKING in the country... if you like your choir, enjoy doing what you do then that is all that matters. Competitions are just icing on the cake to show off your hard work to other groups and your family/friends

i REALLLY like the way you think
idk how many times ive heard kids from my choir as well as others say that the awards mean nothing compared to people from competing choirs coming up and say how much they LOVED your show!

the system is very rigged... it's all oppions.. findlay and fairfield are still way up there.. plus findlay hasn't even competed.... it's just kind of fun to look at.... i respect your oppion observer
