Having seen Los Al and Burroughs last weekend, I got Los Al over Burroughs. And I hope someone gives an award to Miss Patterson at South Jones. She will bring the Ryman down with their ballad.

Kayla Patterson is, indeed, AMAZING! We are blessed to have her! And 50-ish other amazingly talented young ladies and gentlemen!

So this is the third time (99, 06, 14) that CR Kennedy and Washington have competed at the same Nashville national competition together! First one was Showstoppers, but the last 2 have been SCN. I think that is so weird/cool! Great minds think alike, I guess! #CedarRapids

I believe I am packed and ready to go! Good luck to everyone this weekend! I can't wait to see all the groups Come find me and say hi!!

Safe travels, everyone!!!!!

The magic has worn off for you sometime over the last 11 years.

Yah... I think it's when I found out your name wasn't Jorge hahaha

Packing for the trip! We leave at 4 am! It's going to be nice to have so much Iowa support at SCN!

From what I saw of Kennedy my sophomore year at nationals, I'd say they're a shoe in for finals. Unless somehow the groups talent has immensely degraded, but that's sort of unlikely within the span of only 2 years. I guess we shall see!

I think Los Al will take the GC in this one with JB close behind.

As other predictions: While many of the southern groups are untested against groups from across the nations, I'm confident that Oak Grove will make finals. They have really surprised everyone with how good they are this year in southern competitions. And I guess we can consider Jenks a southern group--they should make finals too.
The other slots could be a number of groups.

Finalists (predictions, no order):
Jenks
John Burroughs
Los Alamitos
Oak Grove
Decatur (I still want to call them Eisenhower)
Madison Central/Kennedy/Washington

Final Placements (predictions):
GC: Los Al
1RU: JB
2RU: Oak Grove
3RU: Jenks
4RU: Decatur
5RU: Madison Central

My predictions:

GC: Los Alamitos (BV BC BB)
1RU: John Burroughs
2RU: Oak Grove
3RU: Jenks
4RU: Washington
5RU: Kennedy

Looking at how well Los Al has done this year, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't take First, but who knows. Oak Grove was really impressive when I saw them two years ago at FAME Nationals and so was Jenks, so those two should make finals if they are as good or better than when I saw them last. After that there are several groups that could definitely contend for the final two spots including Decatur, Madison Central, South Jones, and Ankeny. Decatur's Thursday night time slot could hurt them, but with an impressive performance at Wheaton, they could easily slip into finals. I don't know a whole lot about South Jones or Madison Central, so them making finals is up in the air to me. To be honest, Ankeny was not all that I was expecting when I got the privilege of seeing them (very early in the season) at Gretna. Three months ago. And they haven't competed in almost two months, so who knows what has happened in that time. Take with my predictions what you will, they are just friendly thoughts.

cant wait to hear how this one turns out! ps. don't count out cedar rapids Washington.. they have a very fun show and they have strong vocals and I think they could be the dark horse of this competition
