Oh, I wasn't worried about that, I promise! I just love performing on a really good stage, especially since I promise you I've performed on enough bad ones, and even though I'm in both choirs that means less. ::sigh:: I'm just selfish.

Please don't ask me why I felt the need to put that up, because I don't have an answer.
The first two days were moved because some other company or event offered the Opry people more money for the space, so they cancelled the SCN contract for Thursday and Friday. It isn't some sort of statement about Single-Gender show choirs, so you don't need to worry about that.
The SCN people were not happy about the situation either, but from what I've seen, the Acuff theater will be a very nice space as well- they used it for the first two years of SCN. We're just excited to be going to this competition.
When Showstoppers was in Nashville, it was held at the Acuff Theatre for a while. It is an incredible venue and very "show choir friendly".

I'm guessing everyone has heard by now that the Single-Gender competition and prelims will be held in the Acuff theater, NOT on the Opry stage? I kind of like it- more motivation to make finals.
I actually hadn't heard that. Really? ...I'm not a big fan of that idea. Not really because of the prelims part, but because of the Single-Gender part. We kind of have a big thing in our school about Single-Gender groups being held on the same level and priority as our mixed group, is all.
It's just that the Opry stage is such a great venue, it would have been nice if all the groups could perform on it, not just a few mixed groups and one Single-Gender group (assuming they still observe the practice of the winning Single-Gender choir performing at finals).

Also, am I going completely crazy, or was Sullivan signed up for Nashville at some point? I could have SWORN they were on the list... I'm sad that they aren't any more (if they ever were), I'd really like to see them this year!

I am so excited to get to be going to the show choir Nationals this year!!! I have always wanted to go to Nashville, and go to the Grand Old Opry. Now I get to go to Nahsville and PERFORM at the GRAND OLD OPRY stage. Good luck to all the performing choirs. I can't wait to get to meet everyone and have fun in the hotel with everybody. GOOD LUCK!!!!
The Opryland Hotel is amazing in size and beauty and I loved the headline of the newspaper that was left outside of the rooms on Finals day. "Happiness Inc." it read. It was sweet.
I LOVED this competition last year!!!! Not only was it an amazing place to stay, but it was so fun to stay in the same hotel with all the other competing groups! It was so nice to meet people, everyone was very nice! It was also fun to hang out with our friends from Kennedy! Plus, the opryland is BEAUTIFUL! Good luck to everyone competing! It should be a GREAT competition!
This is kind of a cool thing for me. I get to begin and end my competition career with Nashville.
Mundelein used to go to Nashville on pretty much a regular basis. Then my sophomore year we decided to switch it up and go to FAME Orlando, and then last year we did Showstoppers New York.
I really like the way it worked out. I got to do a FAME and a Showstoppers, not to mention doing a very nice "full circle" thing with two Nationals. Also, this time we get to stay at the Opryland! Freshman year fell through and we stayed at a very nearby motel, which was actually really fun, but I'm glad we get to be at the Opryland this year.
