As this season ends, I just want to take a moment to say the tier I California shows this year were incredible. I feel lucky that some of the events they went to had a live feed of some sort, but really jealous of the folks who saw these choirs live at Hart, Burroughs, Waltham, etc.

Burroughs - probably my favorite Powerhouse show since Cleopatra. This was my favorite show design of the entire year. Jen & team do a remarkable job translating music and movement to powerful storytelling and emotion. They are the best in the game at that and it’s not even close. The intensity demonstrated in Freebird to the soft and delicate ending scene; butterflies in my stomach and tears coming down my face. The artistry just feels so organic and effortless which is incredible considering the amount of work that went into this show. Congrats Powerhouse on another iconic show.

Burbank - A 20-minute performance with the full ensemble on stage the entire time. No frills, no minutes-long solo features, no costume changes, yet incredible musicianship, choreography, and energy throughout. This show surprised me in the best ways. A modern yet classic show choir set. Ripple is my favorite individual show choir number this season; it fit so well and was incredibly effective in the theme. It was mesmerizing and had a similar effect on me as a show moment as Oasis did a few years ago. The energy in the closer was also reminiscent of a Midwest show, but executed with the In Sync flair. Really enjoyed the show.

Los Al - The thing I can’t get over with Sound FX are the students. The singers and dancers are out of this world with their individual performances. Now I’ll admit, I don’t always find the Sound FX show designs to be the most relatable personally, but that isn’t within the student’s control and that’s easy to look past with how well these students perform. The talent that these students display on stage with their solos, their dance features, their emoting through the musicianship; it’s actually very impressive and professional for a group of teenagers. Congrats to SFX for another successful year.

Given the detail many schools towards shows now a days would it be a bad idea to give more time to every division especially advanced women’s and the advanced mixed divisions since the use of big sets and very detailed shows has increased even in the last 10 years but I get it. Longer show times mean later comps.

If "In Sync" wins this competition, this will be their first undefeated season in the group's history btw! (according to this website at least)

I think they are referring to In Sync's record, specifically, not show choir as a whole.

Hey, I at least guessed Burbank's Musicianship caption!

Powerhouse has a fantastic set this year, and it's too bad they got their 2nd time penalty of the season. It might just be the best show of the season. But this also solidifies in my mind one of my favorite things about Los Alamitos. Their staging and production always looks seamless. They manage to do so much, so well. And within the time limits?? These people had better be the future stage managers of the entertainment industry.

Congrats to everyone. I'd love to see a scoresheet. If only events had another tab up top where ine could see the full scoring results.

Tier I Predictions:

1st place- Los Alamitos "Sound FX" (Showmanship)
2nd place- John Burroughs "Powerhouse" (Musicianship)
3rd place- Burbank "In Sync"

I wouldn't be surprised to see these groups in any order, and the captions are also a complete toss-up. This is what I think is the most likely outcome though. Also these 3 groups haven't competed against each other since 2019, so it'll be interesting to see how they stack up against each other 4 years later.

Is such a tough year cause all three shows are ????. I feel like the points are gonna be close between all three.

Vocals

Showmanship

Show design

Choreo

Performers

Soloists
Are all anyones game. Just depends
How the judges feel.

Am i biased since I was in Burroughs program yes, do I think is always hard when the big three compete against each other yes. Cause their three string programs. It all just depends on

A what the judges feel.

Granted I hope every show at the competition goes amazing costume changes
Go nicely. Best wishes to an amazing end to a great season

Bold prediction:

1. Burbank "In Sync" Musicianship
2. Burroughs "Powerhouse" Showmanship
3. Los Alamitos "Sound FX" Best Choreography

Should be one of the most exciting nights of the entire year for show choir, with a good mix of judges, and in a nice venue! I will be rooting for everyone from Colorado
