This would really cause issues with the Cedar Rapids schools. There are fifteen competitive show choirs and four high school competitions held in the Cedar Rapids/Marion area. That would really limit opportunities!

agreed. Or think about ALL the powerhouses from Indianapolis. a lot of them only compete at other Indy competitions so they don't have to spend too much money on travel.

You'd think that LaCrosse wouldn't compete? I know they are diff. schools, but still.. I'm confused. Maybe I just don't get the rules.

Maybe I just don't get the rules.

You don't. Schools in the same city go to the other school's competitions all the time

Why would that matter? honest question... are you implying that they would get special judging because they are from the same town?? I guess you should throw Onalaska in that group since it is like a 15 minute drive between the schools... could be an extended bias.

I personally would think that could be a disadvantage since i'm sure they are rivals... but being from the cedar rapids we have 6 schools in the area, it would be absurd to have a rule disqualifying them from competing at these competitions.

Maybe just being from where i am from this would be unheard of... or i read your post differently from how it was meant..

prediction:

GC: GCS (BV, BB)
1RU: Hastings (BC)
2RU: Kennedy
3RU: Onalaska
4RU: Milton
5RU: Mayville

although Hastings could probably take first if the judging is good and fair.

if the judging is good and fair? What the heck does that mean? If GCS wins it will be because they have great pictures in their VERY clean choreography, and a gorgeous vocal tone, and an incredibly sophisticated show with a beautiful ballad. Not because there is unfair judging. Have you even seen their show this year?

Kennedy will probably sing fuller than any of the groups here. They have a HUGE HUGE sound this year. Personally I think the 2nd half of their show isn't as strong as the first half, but they are fantastic this year. If they get 1st or 2nd here does that mean the judging wasn't "good and fair" as well?

Never having been to this competition before, can anyone tell me whether the competition is held in an auditorium or a gym?

The competition is held in a gym, but the solo competition is held in the auditorium.

Wow. . . Never knew there was this big of a line-up here. . . nice should be an interesting day Saturday for sure. I'm an alumni from Logan(05,06 & 07 member of Class Act) and got volunteered to work(sister is in Classy Ladies). I'm now looking more forward to it! So I'm going to go out on a limb and take a stab at predictions.

GC:Cedar Rapids "Happiness"
1RU:La Crosse "Grand Central Station"
2RU:Davenport "West Connection"
3RUnalaska "Hilltoppers"
4RU:Milton "Choralation"
5RU:Hastings "Riverside Company"

Alright . . . Looks good to me.(Have been out of the SC loop for a while, most of these you have to take as a grain of salt anyways.) GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

as much as i would loooove to see the kids from my old stomping grounds do that well its gonna be a stretch lol. I appreciate the prediction tho! honestly i cant even try to make predictions.. first off its gonna be a battle to make finals alone.. and then trying to predict where everyone is gonna land is nearing rocket science. im very excited to see how this all plays out! good luck to everyone!

Dearest Chris,

Sauk Prairie's show is online at the Milton website for anyone to see. Prelims or finals. Anyone can go see it, regardless of where they live. Stop freaking out.
