A bit of history with this contest: Music & More is typically the last contest in Ohio either in late March or early April. It's oddly positioned to either be too late for some choir's schedules or perfectly placed for out-of-state groups. Some years, it has been a pretty small contest with mostly the rural NW OH schools in attendance. Other years, they've attracted choirs like Carmel, Albertville, Decatur, and Franklin Central (among others). This year may not be their deepest line-up ever, but it perhaps may be one of the better collections of elite Tier I choirs they've had. I'm really excited to attend finals.
I'm by no means the authority on this competition, but as an alum I've obviously paid attention to it over the years. I'm not sure of full records for the early 2000 years (especially since SCC was just getting started!), but I've listed previous years' Grand Champions below. As much as Teays Valley dominated this contest initially, the competition has been a lot more diverse in recent years with the last 3 Grand Champions all being from a different state (with the possibility of that streak continuing).
In terms of Music & More history with these attending choirs, Fairfield, Beavercreek, and Piqua have all won a Grand Champion at this contest before. Fairfield has earned GC three times (2008, 2014, and 2017). Fairfield may be undefeated at this contest? I'm not sure if they attended prior to 2008. Beavercreek has been a finalist *8* times at this contest, and Piqua has been a finalist 4 times (3 of those 4 coming recently <2016, 2017, 2019>). Meanwhile, this is Glenwood's first trip to Ohio as a whole (let alone Wapak) which is so very exciting.
