Predictions:
GC: Carrolll (Sweep)
1RU: Decatur
2RU: Ross
3RU: ETC
4RU: Piqua

The way I see it, 1RU to 3RU will be really tight. Ross really stepped it up at Fairfield, I was very impressed by their improvement over the season. They bested the prominent Grove City and was only half a point behind Whiteland, who also has a great show this year. I think it’s gonna come down to whether Ross will outdance ETC or if ETC will outsing Ross. Either way, I love both shows along with Carroll’s, and I can’t wait to watch Decatur! Ohio is definitely ending it’s competition season with a bang!

Why is Decatur "Elite Energy" in Tier 2? Is it because of the group size?

It must be, but it doesn't really matter since all groups are eligible for finals.

Yeah it’s based on group size!

Random, but Jeff, do you know why Wapak changed their name?

Are the divisions by group size?

My guess is school population.

Kevin - I don't actually know as I've been out of the loop with them for several years. My guess would be one of two things. Back a few years ago there was this article about legal action against Millard West HS in Omaha, NE for using the name "Singsation" in reference to their show choir contest (the article also names how a few show choirs also use the "Singsation" name). It was pretty ridiculous, but nonetheless Millard West changed their competition name in 2017. Similarly, the last year for Wapak under the "Singsation" banner was 2016 and "Harmony In Motion" began in 2017. I have no clue if there was any threat of legal action against Wapak, but it seems like it could be connected. My second guess as to what might have caused the name change is director changes - Wapak is on their 4th director in 8 years. Sometimes directors change things up or go for a refresh/rebrand. Not sure. A more recent WHS student may be able to confirm/deny/clarify.

I was a crew member in 2016 as a senior for Wapak. It was do to legal reasons and show choir I believe in California was getting it trademarked. We was required to legal change it the following year as many others. It was a group decision to rename it though which was nice.

Ugh. How is Singsation not a generic trademark?!? That's so disappointing.

This is gonna be a tough comp. Here are my current predictions.
GC: Carroll “Minstrel Magic” (BC) (BB)
1RU: ETC “The All Americans” (BV)
2RU: Decatur “Elite Energy”
3RU: Ross “Legacy”
4RU: Bishop Dwenger “Summit Sound”
I predict captions are going to be close. I also believe that GC-2RU could definitely be swapped around in any particular order. Good luck to all going to this!

Predictions!!!
GC- Carroll. I think this choir will probably take the Visual caption, as they have gone up against some amazing choirs and have only lost the visual caption to a visually undefeated group. I haven't seen their competition performance yet, but based on their preview I see them performing well here. I think that their theme will be exciting for both the audience and the judges to watch. I think my favorite moment in the show is either when the boys are off stage and the girls have some of the best vocals that I've heard, or the first chorus of friction.
1RU- Decatur. I think that this choir will probably take best vocals, though I could see Carroll putting up a fight in that sector as well. They are always a very strong choir, and I think that they will do well here.
2RU- ETC. They have had a fantastic season so far, but I don't know if they'll have to elevate to another level if they want to defeat wither of the two choirs in front of them. I see this placement as being the safest of them. They will have a tough time beating Carroll and Decatur, and bishop dwenger and ross will have to work hard these next two weeks to put up a close fight with ETC.
3RU- Ross. Ross has had a pretty good season so far and their choir program has grown so much in the past few years, so I think they'll be able to take down BD and MH.
4RU- Bishop Dwenger
I wish all the groups here good luck. Especially our friends from the Fort, Carroll and Bishop Dwenger!!!

Any other groups I'm missing that we know of? The lineup already looks great!

I heard that Ross might be attending, since they had to back out of Beavercreek and Marysville due to poor weather conditions.

I asked someone from Ross if they were picking up Wapakoneta and they said yes. This lineup keeps getting more and more exciting!
