Remember scores can also be based off of dificulty of other groups there. I am an Opelika alum and was at the competition and can say that of all the choirs in finals CG had the easiest choreography. They executed it equally to anyone and the scores reflected that. Overall, the complaints on here have been silly. As mentioned, the two judges with the most ties to SCA had yall in first by a large margin and yall still lost. Also, Opelika sends at least 20 to 30 kids every year to camp and those same two with the most ties to camp had Opelika in fourth by a large margin. Your ballad was phenomenal and yall put on a great show, but Mitchell just happened to be a little bit better. If you are going to compete then you have to understand that you pay your money and take your chances. It was a great competition and you should be very proud of your placement. It's very impressive.

Center Grove has incredibly hard choreography year in and year out. We have the same choreographer as them, and his stuff is very hard. Have you ever tap danced before? It's really difficult, especially to get them all in unison. Maybe if the judges would look at what the feet are doing every once in a while instead of watching arms the whole time they would see that Center Grove has really hard stuff to do

Sorry for going off like that but it just irritates me when people say that groups like Center Grove and Cedar Rapids Washington have easy choreography when it's actually some of the hardest

Verda Slinkard is a clinician at SCA and had Center Grove in 1st place as well.

I honestly wouldn't have been surprised if any of the finalists walked away with GC, everyone's show was incredible and so different from what I'm used to seeing.

Bishop Luer's ballad was PHENOMENAL. I'd seen it on youtube and was ridiculously excited to see it live, freaking unbelievable. Hands down one of my favourite songs to watch this year. Both soloists and the choir were fabulous. Viva la Vida, Son of Man, and Jai Ho were also really fun to watch.

CG's ballad was also incredible, that SOUND just blew me away, I literally had chills the entire time. AND doing it acapella, seriously, major props to you guys.

I never got to see Opelika's show but I will once we get our DVDs. I know they did a wonderful job too. Their kids are so sweet, I loved getting to know them. Great job to Jasmine and Quinn on their awards!

There were little things here and there but the biggest thing was we got sevens in difficulty of choreo...in the four years of being in the group we have never gotten that low of score on difficulty..if you know andy his choreo isnt easy lol...and to echo duffyk4 "We were all disappointed at the loss, to think such a great season could've ended on a tiebreaker like that."

FYI indiana and illinois are DEF MIDWEST STATES cg and bishop luers and indiana groups who have traditional show choir shows. i am sorry bt i firmly disagree with mitchell out singing cg but i just don't know they must have done amazing at this comp to win that caption.

Right... they are still Midwestern states... the point I was making is that Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, South Dakota show choir is completely different than Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio choir is.

Thanks so much!! We had so much fun this whole weekend with everyone, it was so nice to go to a competition where there were people we knew! Everyone was soooo amazing! i enjoyed all the mixed groups i watched!

Instead of saying we should look at them, which I know I don't have that access, maybe you should inform us of what is wrong with them, in your opinion. From what I hear it was a great competition, and the fact that they took all the important captions shows it was no fluke. And it was tied, to show how close it actually was.

I don't know if you walked in expecting to win because everyone said you were going to, and are disappointed you didn't, I feel you are taking away from a very capable choir that I knew had a chance to win this. Mitchell is no one hit wonder, and shows that you don't have to be flashy to win over a crowd. A little shocked to hear they took best vocals, but I haven't seen your show live so i can't comment on that, but they must have really worked on it after I had seen them.

Congrats to FDC, I am extremely proud of you and wish i could have made it to Orlando (stupid friends) but I know you will be on youtube soon enough for me to enjoy countless hours... hopefully before i make the 24 hr drive back to Iowa on friday...

Regardless it was a great competition to go to. I think it would be insane to try and judge these choirs against each other... It's basically comparing apples to oranges.

I mean Mitchell is a midwest choir and has a show that is a similar style to Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota choirs. Opelika is obviously a southern choir and I feel that southern choirs and midwestern choirs are fairly similar... but then throw in the Illinois and Indiana show choirs and it's a whole new aspect... It's definitely not wrong, but different than what midwestern choirs are doing. So I think to be a judge you have to try and make sense of what every group is doing and pick the most entertaining show.

CG- HOLY CRAP can you sing! I was in shock when I heard you light up your acapella ballad. That's ballsy, especially since you stayed dead on the pitch through the whole thing, that's something some adult choirs cannot manage. I loved the look you guys have, very elegant and mature, TOTALLY different than what we're used to seeing in this half of the country. I loved your show... very entertaining!

Opelika - You guys are awesome! Such a nice group of kids! Your ballad was amazing and your soloist was awesome... I love your choreography April is a genius!

Bishop Luers - Very very impressed with your Coldplay song... and your soloists are all amazing. I especially loved the girl in the gold dress... that girl has some pipes... Jai Ho is veryyy entertaining. Good work

FDC - what can I say? I'm reallly proud of you all. You danced your butts off and gave it all you had. Nice work and good luck with upcoming Dinner Theatre.

I'd like to personally apologize for any negative or bitter comments that have been posted on behalf of CG Sound System. We were all disappointed at the loss, to think such a great season could've ended on a tiebreaker like that. Some of us have taken it harder than others. Congratulations to Mitchel. Didn't manage to see you guys, but I'm sure you were great.

Their show is now located on Youtube.

What does show choir Camps of America have to do with the politics? Sue Moninger owns SCA and she had Center Grove in first. Where is the politics in that?

No matter the difference of peoples preference of who they "wanted" to win. The results are final and complaining about the outcome does nothing. Obviously the judges picked a winner. Let that group have their victory and be proud of what they did. It is hateful to make it seem like they didnt deserve what they won and that politics were involved.

politics are always involved...........That's life.
