I would just like to say what an absolutely AMAZING time we had in Nashville these past few days. All the groups were beyond great, and i know everybody there tried their hardest. I would also like to say to our host group, Clinton Attache, you guys were ASTONISHING. seriously. i know we all have groups that we watch and every now and then they have a moment when all you can say is "wow." well, Attache's show was a constant running stream of those moments.

I do have to say that West Connection was pretty dissappointed when we missed finals by so few points, but there was no doubt in anyone's mind that the groups who made finals were the ones who deserved to be there. We all had a blast this weekend, and i just wanted to say Congratulations to ALL the groups who got to perform on the Grand Ole Opry stage, which is a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you so much to Clinton Attache for hosting this event, and another thank you to the creator of this very website who was so wonderful when we "just happened" to pull him, of all people, out of the front row of seats to be in our show :- ) Everyone did a fantastic job.

I just got back from the culmination of this weekend's festivities and I now know why so many people have voted this event the most fun to attend. What an amazing three days! I had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful people here and was blown away by the quality of the performances during finals. This was one tough competition!

Beyond the performances, however, I think what really left an impression was the way that the choirs interacted with each other... an enormous amount of support and respect was shown between groups the entire time. The rock-paper-scissors duel between FFE and Bonita Vista was a riot... I'm sure that set some sort of record. When people ask me what the big deal about show choir is, I tell them that it's so much more than just a class where students sing and dance; it's a place where people truly grow as individuals... where they learn not only vocal technique and physical precision, but how to be quality human beings. They learn how to be confident in front of others, yet remain humble in a period of greatness. Perhaps most of all, they become part of a family that offers a special kind of understanding and support for each other that doesn't quite exist anywhere else. To me, this competition was a direct reflection of what show choir is all about.

The dinner/dance/gathering/concert tonight was fantastic... I don't know how they crammed so many people into one place, but every competition needs some sort of social unwinding like this. The band was out of this world... I couldn't believe my ears when the singer belted out the best version of "Open Arms" I've ever heard live! Good music knows no boundaries. (Here are a couple quick shots from the venue tonight... and that's only about half of the show choir members who were there!)

Thanks to everyone from every choir who took the time to come up and say hello... both students and parents alike had so many nice things to say about the website and it really gives me motivation to keep at it. A big hello to my new 'West' friends Michael, Allison, Bailey, Aaron, Antoinette, Jeff, Steve, and of course Adam! You're all so wonderful!

For those groups who have never had the chance to attend, do yourself a favor and check out SCN. The theater is great, the hosts are amazing, and the experience was unforgettable. Congratulations again to Sullivan for taking home Grand Champion honors and to a remarkably stunning Clinton Attaché who proved that there is a reason they have a reputation. It doesn't get much better than this!

I just came up from Georgia to watch the Nashville Nationals Competition and I would just like to say that I think the results were bull crap! If you were there, Findlay First Edition was definitely the best show choir by far. No offense to Sullivan and Petal, cause they were both good too, but Findlay was amazing and the crowd all liked them the best. They put on an absolutely AMAZING SHOW! You rock Findlay! It sucks that the judges didnt see what the rest of the audience saw... peace.

I dont think that anyone blew anyone out of the water! All the groups that were there were amazing and the comp was great! congrats to all the groups i really enjoyed a day of show choir where i could just sit and watch and be impressed! Hopefully we'll see y'all at Nashville next year.

As for the judges "not seeing what the rest of the audience saw", their decision was a very hard one. There were two judges who agreed on first (Sullivan), and the rest (3 others) had a different choir in first.

what scoring system was used in finals? rankings only like last year?

Sorry... but I'd like to kindly ask you not to speak on behalf of the entire crowd. I sat in the crowd for every single group in finals, and every choir was supported in the same way... with lots of cheering, applause, and standing ovations at the end. No crowd was favored more or less... that's one of the great things about Nationals. The groups in finals were of equal amazing caliber and everyone is so supportive.

As for the judges "not seeing what the rest of the audience saw", their decision was a very hard one. There were two judges who agreed on first (Sullivan), and the rest (3 others) had a different choir in first.

This competition was intense and each group made an improvement. Clinton even stepped it up from their awesome performance yesterday! Watch out FAME Chicago... they're ready to prove what they are truly made of.
