Good job FC!!! You guys did very good! I think everyone deserved the placements that they got! I am sorry Dekalb for the roaring cheers from the Northrop area when you guys got 2ru... " border="0" alt="ermm.gif" /> We shouldn't have done it and we apologize for it! Yes we may have shown a lack of respect from that but afterwards when all of the choirs were leaving one of my friends in Charisma got spit on by a Dekalb person which is much much much lower than anything I have ever seen in my entire life! I hope it doesn't happen again!
Bill Heins judged this contest, as he does every contest, fairly. Anyone who doesnt know that doesnt know anything about show choir and should keep their opinions to themselves. While it is rude to cheer at, shall we say, incorrect times, it is also rude to talk at a normal level while another group is performing and the people around you are trying to listen. It is also very rude to stand outside of the performance area and talk at such a high level that people in the audience can hear your conversation word for word, especially when you've been asked to please be quiet.
I'm sure Bill Heins adjudicated as he saw it - as do most all judges - but any contest official has to know these kind of questions are going to come up when someone once so involved with a particular choir is asked to judge. Better to err on the side of caution and avoid even the hint of impropriety and replace that judge.
I have to say that everyone did a great job yesterday, I know the scores were very close. Everyone should be very proud of where they finished.
On a side note Busco did have a Bon Jovi song, their opener was one.
And finally, I am so proud of all the people in New Era, your show is absolutely amazing this year and you will do great things! Goodluck the rest of the year and I cant wait to see you guys again.
First of all, I want to say GREAT JOB to all the choirs that performed at busco last night!
Now to speak to this matter of judges, we have all heard the saying it's a small world and
the show choir world is even smaller. Every competition a choir goes to is judged by what you would hope to be a fair and qualified panel. These judges have worked hard to get to the point where their opinion is respected.
Most have been involved with the show choir "world" for a long time and it is not uncommon for them to be familiar with choirs and/or their directors. This being said, saying a choir is undeserving of how they placed it is very disrespectful to the judges that have the hard task of picking the winners. It also discounts the accomplishments of the choir that you are in,or were in, or the one you just hope will win. knowing they were judged with this very similar circumstance. Now that being said,I would like to say good luck and have a great time to
ALL CHOIRS for the rest of your competitions this year.

I would like to congratulate EVERY GROUP last night on a job well done. Everyone sure stepped it up last night. It was definitly a fight to the very end. However, it was very dissapointing to see one group in particular (I am not going to name any names since they should know who they are) be so disrespectful. It is my belief that you stand up and congratulate every group on a job well done. I'm sure ever everyone agrees that you shouldn't cheer for yourself (out loud anyway) because your groups name has not yet been called. I noticed this the most when DeKalb was told they placed 2nd Runner-Up. DeKalb has an excellent choral program and I am sure it was very exciting to know that you beat them, but you TOTALLY took away from their moment of glory with your thunderous cheers for your own group. It was very dissapointing to see such a lack of respect. " border="0" alt="yucky.gif" />
northrop is sorry for our lack of class during awards. We were totally out of hand and got caught up in the moment. We realized how stupid we must have looked while we were on the bus last night and felt really bad. we sincerly apologize.

I would just like to say that I wish I could've seen this competition yesterday. From what I heard it was VEEEEEERY close after prelims. I cannot wait to get back and see everyone this year. I would also like to say that I think its very unfair for anyone to make accusations against another choir or a judge at a competition without personally seeing the scores and knowing that whether or not the judge in question scored significantly different from the other judges. I know that I would be very upset (just as the Northrop kids are) if someone said that Anderson had an upper hand while being judged by say Rick Seaver. Simply because I know that Rick is quite possibly Anderson's toughest critic. So to come out and point fingers at an adjudicator without having the scores to back you up is not right. Who knows maybe the scores he gave Northrop were drastically ahead of the other judges... but until you have the evidence to back it up you probably shouldn't point fingers.
Does anyone know if pictures were taken? I didn't see a photographer, but maybe they were hiding...
And also, what company did the videos?
Thanks in advance.
I don't believe there was a photographer. The video company name was KI productions. My mom bought a DVD.

I think that after it was all over, the placements were fair. I don't think anyone has any room to talk on any subject of the scoring process without knowing the definate scores. It was really close after the day show, so it was up to grabs for about anyone. Mr. Heins is a fair, honest judge who would NOT give us the upperhand just because he was with Northrop awhile back. So for all of you who assume that, you are dead wrong. 'Busco was definately an awesome competitive experience for me and I enjoyed it very much.
Good luck to all of the choirs coming to the Charisma Classique next weekend!
Do u not get how rude you sound? Northrop hasn't beat Dekalb in a night show in over ten years. We were so excited last night. It really sucks to wake up in the morning and see that someone said that we did not deserve to get second place, and then trashes our choreographer, who works his butt off, by saying that he copied moves from Dancin Dan. Sometimes I think that all people do is criticize other choirs. Just please stop talking!!!!
"Dancin Dan" DeKalb 2005 Northrop you could have not been so obvious with using the same idea and much of the same choreo. as they performed in 2005
