I agree that the judging is a little wierd. But its just the way it works sometimes. Last year we went to the davenport great river competition and we had a set of rankings of like 2,3,4,5 and the other school had a ranking of like 1,5, 7,3 and they beat us and it just doesn't make sense sometimes. but its not worth arguing, its not like you can change the past.
Those numbers are a bit off. There were three judges in day round... and your rankings were 4th, 4th, and 6th. Linn Mar was the other school you were refering to... and they had a 1st, 4th, and 9th.

SOLO COMPETITON RESULTS
Best Female Soloist: Kerstina Aldrich singing "I Curse You Mister/I'm Here" from THE COLOR PURPLEBest Male Soloist: Andrew Ott (New London) singing "Someone to Fall Back On" by Jason Robert Brown
Best Duet (out of two duets competing): Tom Zanton and Molly Bliese singing "Come What May" from MOULIN ROUGE
Also, what was with the soloist exhibition times changing eight times in ten minutes. Frustrating from a performer's standpoint.
Solo Exhibition times were changed because our duet couple (Milton) had to go first, so then they had time to change before Milton's first-time slot in finals. It was a huge miscommunication between our director and the anouncer, so it got changed multiple times!
I'd like to thank Monona Grove for its fabulous competition. Everything was well organized, smoothly-run and our hosts, along with giving a fabulous performance, were as polite and courteous as could be. Thanks everyone!
I loved this competition, it was so fun to see everyone especially you jamie, You are like the nicest WSD kid I have ever met. I cant wait till our next competition together.
One of the other things that irked me a bit was that no one had a breakdown of where each judge scored you. That would've been nice, because it'd be a reassurance that one judge wasn't controlling the entire competition. We lost 32 points total in the day round, so it's hard to think that a single judge controlled it, but with the final judges rankings, it seems almost possible that this could've been the case. It would've also been nice to know who thought we had a weak show, so that we could atleast listen to their comments (we didn't have time to listen to more than one and a half tapes) and take them atleast into consideration.
Again, none of us are upset about our placement, I want to make that clear. Just making some food for thought.
well i myself have never been to a competitioin that had a critique' after finals, and i know where your coming from on the bad day round performance, but as far as judging goes, you cant control that, and thats part of the fun in competition. There is always different judges who have different opinions. Thats how every competition turns out different.
This system just is waaaaayyy too subjective. A choir can win purely because they have great choreo if a choreo Nazi is judging. There's no formula to it. Also, where's the things to improve on from finals? I know that from OASC's standpoint, we felt like our afternoon was the worst we'd ever done our show. The comments given to us didn't give us a great idea about our show because we knew we'd done it better. Our finals performance however felt great. THAT'S where I want to know what's wrong with the show. Ya mean?
not to be rude, but to some people from all schools im sure, prep/a-class scores are very important and interesting as well
You could ask your director for the scores.
I didn't mean to say they were any less important or interesting, I was simply saying that more people have asked for final rankings and so forth. Sorry for offending you.
Hey, Janesville Craig was one of the few groups I actually watched Saturday - i liked you guys. You're opener I think was my favorite. It was very powerful(band), and fun. Keep up the good work!

I have a strange requst.....I am a member of ambassadors(obviously). But as prairie was waiting for the choir b4 us 2 end in finals, one of the groups that didnt make finals was leaving. I dont know who it was unfortuanately but i believe they were wearing blue shirts. As they walked by there was a boy who quietly said " if you guys dont win i will kill someone". I am hoping maybe this person is a member of this site. I just wanted to be able to personally thank for such inspiration. If anyone knows anything about this person please let me know. The only thing i remember is i think he was of asian descent. THANKS!
P.S. Thanks so much to everyone at MG you guys were really great. Your competition was very fun! And i really felt like all of the show choirs were tough competition. I believe its best to win when you are preforming against the finest groups there are. I believe that happened at this competition. Congrats to all and good luck further on in the season!
THAT WAS TOTALLY ME!!! haha! but i don't think i said 'kill.' i hope not at least; that's so morbid.
