5RU: Millard North
Please note that Johnston changed my life at Midwest Cup 2014, so I might be a little biased towards them, but I've also heard a lot about how good they are this year. The BB caption is really a toss up between the Millards, IMO. Also, the bottom three could really go any way, I've heard good things about both infinity and excel (who I haven't seen), but I was blown away by Free Spirit's vocals at MWC. It'll be exciting to see how it all turns out (and how wrong I'll probably be).

I predict that Johnston will take this one because they're consistently a powerhouse and I've heard great things about them this year. And while I don't see WIG beating ATSC (I could definitely be wrong though, weirder things have happened), I could see them snagging BB since they did so at this comp last year and their band is just as killer now as it was then. The bottom three, on the other hand, could be a toss up, although I'm sure that Papio will hold their own given their recent success.
I am honestly just so excited to be competing here and being able to see so many amazing groups compete in one place all in one day. This is just my prediction of how things will unfold, but I'm excited to see if any groups will prove my guess wrong!!

And I really have no idea where best band will end up so I just placed it somewhere interesting.
They should rename this "The Elkhorn South Valentines Day Massacre" just because of how difficult this competition will be. Although it's a public school and this may cause problems but I still stand by my idea. Also I will be handing out valentines to everybody I see and I expect you all to be prepared with your own home-made valentines.
Can I get a valentine mailed to me

I've seen most of these groups so far, and I'm so excited to host Crystal Cup this weekend! It's one of the most exciting times of the year at Elkhorn South. I'm very interested to see how it goes down, and I'm hoping some groups beat groups they've never beaten before! Overall, this will be such a fun competition, with most of the biggest groups in Nebraska attending. I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE JOHNSTON, IVE HEARD MUCH ABOUT THEM!! Good luck to you all, we can't wait to see you here at Elkhorn South!
Or when there was a solid possibility of Rez beating them at Wheaton in 2012.
Here is my take on the issue. I believe in the last few years groups such as Lincoln Southwest, Papillion South, Millard West, and Elkhorn South at some points in their competitive season have all had the chops to match (and maybe even beat) Westside. I also think after watching Elkhorn grow these past two years, they could be right up there too soon (if they aren't already!). Just the fact that it's this close nowadays is something to be proud of, not because we don't want Westside to succeed, because clearly they have proven their legitimacy as an awesome show choir, but because Nebraska show choir has grown so much that we have produced more than one "powerhouse" type group. Yay Nebraska!
That being said, my personal view is that I don't think this is the year that Westside will be beaten. Not only do they sing extremely well as usual, but this is the cleanest ATSC I have seen in many years (I recently saw them at their competition). Good show and the execution is very impressive.
Not saying that it can't be done-- just my personal opinion. Also keep in mind I haven't seen Resonance since their premiere night, and with two sweeps under their wing they should be looking towards a good season.
Ah yes, back to Crystal Cup.
Really interested to see what will happen here. Can't wait to see all these groups on Saturday.
Keep in mind even 5RU is a huge honor at this competition. Very difficult lineup.

Part of me even wants to give Best Choreography to ATSC... depending on the judging panel I could see either BV or BC going either way, but I believe Johnston just has the full package. Still think it could go either way and it will be very very close.
I also believe that 2RU-5RU will be super duper close. LOVE Elkhorn this year, MN's band is killer per usual. These groups have all proven their prowess this year.
Basically all I REALLY know is that it will be close, okay?? Honestly I hate putting ANY of these groups lower than like 2RU... Wish I could put like ten groups in finals because so many groups deserve it.
Good luck to all groups! Perform your socks off! Can't wait to see this on Saturday. Come say hi if you see me!
This reminds me of a few years ago when people, myself included, were saying the same thing about Papio South. But then Westside beat them with relative ease. The only time I can really remember a Nebby group becoming somewhat close to getting Westside recently was Ralston at Sioux City East a few years back. Westside won the competition and Ralston finished a few spots down but two judges had Ralston ahead of Westside in what was an usually close and varied judging panel.
It is just so crazy how Westside has such a stronghold on Nebraska. Though the quality of Nebraska show choir is constantly rising around them, which is great to see.

My Junior year in high school (2006) we got Best Choreography and Best Band but got 2nd place to Westside and it was such a gut punch. I think this is a great year for SW to take down Westside but I have said that before. It's just such a huge monkey on everyone's back in Nebraska but I think that makes for good competition. Hopefully no one here gets to it before Resonance gets a chance!
I think if it were to happen this year, their biggest threat would be Lincoln Southwest at Lewis Central. And this year might just be THE best time in a long time for it to happen with how good Resonance is.

Someday ATSC will lose to another Nebraska group. Probably. Possibly. Maybe. I mean, statistically speaking it has to happen eventually, right? Right???!? .......right?

This will be a tough competition. 8 of the varsity groups consistently make finals, 7 of them have brought home a top 3 placement every week, 6 of them have won a GC so far this season.

Papillion La Vista

Elkorn/ Skutt
Skutt Catholic was really amazing when they performed in Executive showcase! Also, Papillion La vista will do amazing here as well! When I saw them at Elkorn they were astounding! Good luck to all!
this is the 1st of 2 consecutive weekends that ATSC and Johnston compete against each other. The only thing I am sure of is that ATSC and Johnston will go 1 and 2 either way. Everything else is a toss up.
