Let me start out by saying that I've been around show choir and concert choirs for around 6 or 7 years now and I try to follow these forums to see whats being said afterwards. Now, that being said...Here goes
Like I said before I've been doing this for awhile and I've been to competitions from Missouri to Indiana. I was at the North Central competition this week and let me say that it was a very well run competition. They had some trouble with getting behind schedule, and they had a rough time with the judges getting to and from their seats(ie potty breaks;)but thats unavoidable)...the ranking system that NC used is uncommon, but not unseen. It's just another way of judging, let me just say that it's ALL subjective regardless....Now
Fairfield~~You had a slow day show, but you obviously picked it up at night. I liked your backdrop, and a designer myself; Id like to know how much you spent.
BD~~"how do i love thee, let me count the ways" The energy that you've come up with in the past couple of weeks has been amazing. Ballad=amazing You all have the guts to do difficult choreography and still pull off amazing vocals. However, I do believe its time for a new choreographer. You consistently finish 2nd 3rd or 4th.
LC~~Very fun show. You all have very sharp and clean chor. not the hardest I've seen, but you pull it off like it were the hardest thing in the world. Very good. Your vocals are very nice. Just wish I could hear more 4+part harmony. I know you guys can pull it off.
Brownsburg~~You guys are just the little show choir that could. A couple of years ago, I wouldn't have thought of you guys as a contender but you've proven that wrong. Very good show and vocals.
LN~~You too are the little show choir that could. You guys will be movin up on the placing lists very quickly if you keep up the good work.
To all the choirs~you made it fun. Thanks
Lawrence central you guys showed a ton of class in the face of an "off" judgement. It happens to everyone at least once. To brownsburg, you had some very rude students that i sat near during finals. I am not generalizing your whole choir, just those 3 or 4 that sat in the back of the center section on the right hand side next to the aisleway. You made it very unenjoyable to be in that room. All that being said all of you are spectacular choirs in your own right.

to Brownsburg way to step it up 7 places since state , u guys must have been awesome

to jason112005.... that was totally uncalled for, who cares what they do in state what Matters is what happened at MIC

and to stagemom he obviously said nothing about his group and that LC should have been ranked higher. so no the judges would not have been brilliant.... just a lil bit smarter

and to lcturtle YEHES

yes i have to say that i was shocked when i heard LC announded before us.... it was a shock to everyone in the place...but we take what we get and leave it alone.. you cant go back in time and change nething... and NC's hosts are amazing.. we had the best hosts... BROWNSBURG CONCERT CHOIR ROCKS!!! Pike.. you are all amazing people... thank you soo much for staying and cheering us on... it really meant a lot to all of us... so.. THANK YOU!!!! .......but i believe that if there was a mistake no judge in their right mind would admit that it was them... so if there was we will never know...trust me... brownsburg has had that before... so we just all need to learn with what happened this past weekend.. and take everything for what its worth.. im sorry that it ended up the way it did... but everyone needs to live with it!!!

Why do you assume there was a mistake, or that everyone was shocked when you didn't finish where you thought you should? Is that the only way you can live with the fact that on that night, the judges thought another choir was better? If you HAD finished where you thought you should, would the judges then have been brilliant? Think what you like, but it's incredibly insulting to the top finishers to imply that their victory over you was some sort of mistake.

At the North Central Competition the results from state were null and void! NC was a whole new competition with new judges, and i am sure the all the choirs stepped it up a little, and the results were right on. All i am saying is that when choirs go a competition they should know that at that competition whatever the judges think stands to be true, because they are the ones whose opinions matter most at the point in time. So State is here and gone, NC was a whole new thing, let it go people Brownsburg place third ok, don't hate on them. Why not be happy for them. I think all of the finalist at our competition were amazing and it was a hard pick to determine who fell where in ranking. And not matter what anybody says for the 2005 North Central MIC Show Choir competition the results are; GC: Fairfield, 1RU: Ben Davis, 2RU: Brownsburg, 3RU: Lawrence Central, and 4RU: Lawrence North. Let it go people, if when any of you got off that stage and felt like winners then you were in fact the best of the best, because you all thought so. I LOVE YOU ALL! and am sad to be graduating, but guys let us keep it positive. And remeber no matter good any of us think that we are, there is always someone better, therefore keep working for nothing is ever guaranteed in show choir! God Bless!

Man everyone gets so offensive on here...hey BB did you even make finals at state???

So finally the feelings of dissent have reached us...oh, I just couldn't wait.No... we didn't EVEN make finals at state. In fact, we were placed 9th in the state of Indiana. And guess what.... LC made finals. In case it was forgotten, they indeed placed 3rd at state meaning they beat us by....6 places. LAWRENCE CENTRAL BEAT BROWNSBURG AT STATE!!!!!! Congratulations. I hope everyone feels better that that fact was pointed out.

yep anderson did "coffee in a cardboard cup".. reminded me a little of the FC cookie song.  but i could relate to it more because it was coffee... and we know i have starbucks problems.
speaking of, did anyone try the coffee at MIC?  i heard it was amazing. the guy donated it and in turn asked for free advertising. my parents were all about it lol.

hey anyone in fairfield- random question. your riser set up was insane... is it harder to learn choreo on that then on a standard set up?  which do you like better? it looks awesome from stage when you're dancing, but kind of like a death trap when they're empty. lol super intimidating blushing.gif . so yeah, PM me and tell me how that goes cuz i'm curious.
oh and by the way, LN, your "honorary host" tells me your dance off in warmups was super cool.  i wish we had dance offs. oh well maybe next time?

oh MIC. *sigh* that was fun.
330082

we did that song in 2002( i wasnt in the group yet)

in answer to the question about the riser set-up, i'm glad you think its awesome!it is pretty cool with everyone at those diff levels!! it makes blocking much more interesting!!its kinda scary when your changing places( like after my solo in our DJ medley i have to run up the risers to my spot!) but i like both set ups of risers! mad props to our riser dads for all the hard work!

there was this time at state when a couple of your guys played ultimate frisbee w/us, and (sry i forget your name, dude!) he was like, "stainbrook is gonna be mad at me for playing outside," and i was like, "your stainbrook or mine?" Of course BigStain(thats what pike calls him) was playing right along w/us. lol
