And no live feeds. Madison Central was quite good, but they forgot to throw some Mardi Gras beads up to me in the balcony.

None that I know of. We are massively ahead of schedule (Albertville just got off a few minutes ago).
Rarely words you hear about a show choir competition....

With 25 minute time slots that's really surprising. Did a choir drop out last minute or something?

Middle school results

Grand champion: Auburn
1st Ru: lake Forest
2nd runner up: Rome

Best visuals: Simmons (GC small mixed)
Best vocals: Auburn
Best show design: Simmons

I think that Tift County may be very underestimated. Their director this year directed Albertville for the past few years, so he obviously knows what he's doing. Given the right talent, I think he could make just as big of an impact at Tift, so here are my predictions:

PREDICTIONS:
GC: Albertville (BC, BSD)
1RU: Auburn (BV)
2RU: Homewood (BB)
3RU: Tift County
4RU: Enterprise

And Tift County may just shock us all and place even higher than that! Who knows! Good luck to everyone competing!!

I personally am not going to use yesterday's results in my predictions for reasons that I will not talk about, but here goes:
GC: Albertville (Vocals, tie for show)
1RU: Homewood (BC, tie for show)
2RU: Auburn
3RU: Madison Central/Opelika
4RU: Opelika/Madison Central

I am considering traveling to this competition, so these will not be finalized until after prelims for finalists and after finals for finalists. I have seen pictures of all of Homewood's show and seen the first half of the 2nd opener, heard about Auburn and Opelika, and seen most of Albertville's show performed on their own stage. I know nothing about Madison Central outside of the group's name ("Reveille"). As I have said before, no votes on my prediction posts, up or down.

1st RU:Homewood "The Network"
2nd RU:Auburn "Varsity Singers"
3rd RU:Madison Central "Reveille"

Just to be clear, is this at the Performing Arts Centre at the Renaissance Hotel in Montgomery? Also, does anyone know ticket prices/other expenses like food and parking?

It is at the Performing Arts Centre at Renaissance Hotel. As far as food goes, last year the concession stand quickly ran out of food and I was forced to eat in the restaurant inside the hotel, which was very expensive. However, there are tons of restaurants in the surrounding downtown area.

Very excited to hear about the outcome of this competition. I attended the Tift County choral program's pre-show this past weekend, and I can say that every group will be very competitive this year. The middle school has never had a group as large or talented as this year's, and Scott Rains has done absolutely incredible things with ESSC and Ladies Choice. It will be a great competition for everyone involved!

It's been an interesting weekend in show choir, that's for sure. Between watching the live feed/results of Jackson Prep's competition and watching the live feed at Albertville's event this weekend, it's safe to say that this is going to be an interesting competition.

I previously predicted this competition based on last years results, but now I'm going to switch things up a bit based on some of this years results:

GC- Albertville (BV, best show design)
1RU- Auburn (BC)
2RU- Madison Central
3RU- Homewood
4RU- Enterprise

I haven't heard anything about Madison Central and Enterprise this year, so those two placements are based on past results.

Looking forward to a great competition this weekend.

I talked to a friend who was at the ACDA show choir festival in Vestavia this weekend. He told me Albertville has a REALLY cool show this year! Looking forward to seeing it. Maybe we'll know a little more about Homewood, Auburn, and Opelika after Jackson Prep's competition this weekend.
