I talked to JJ last night and she told some of us the GREAT news! All placings were VERY well deserved and I am SO excited for all of them! How cool!! I hope there were LOTS of talent scouts watching Jini because I know her voice is amazing and she deserves all the fame. " border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

YaY for all of them and for rocking the judges socks off!! You're all special people and I'm so glad it was Burroughs who represented SoCal because they do an excellent job.

I wish I had more info for everyone, but I had to get my students home on the train, and we actually had to leave before the host choir. Brendan (Trojan) was to call me with the final results, but he must have lost my #.

Congrats to Powerhouse and Sound Sensations on wonderful performances! Scheduling unfortunately made it impossible for us to see the Women's groups (as we were taking the train back and forth to the city), but I heard super things about Sound Sensations.

After the Mixed group prelims, I didn't think the competition could get any tighter, but it really did. The groups that had some problems in prelims really stepped it up a notch at finals, and vice versa.

So, while I had a clean-cut order in my mind after prelims, it really became a free-for-all after the finals performances!

Powerhouse had some difficulty with their platform boxes at prelims (due to Showstoppers' strict policies) but they really cleaned it up and absolutely shined in finals! Their vocals, choreography and energy were amazing! And the entire Burroughs VMA are the NICEST, CLASSIEST people!

As I mentioned in a previous thread, it was neat to see what "show choir" means to different groups in different parts of the country. Each group was unique from the others, so it must have been difficult to judge 'apples and oranges'.

When we had to leave to catch the train, there were only 2 things we all agreed on: (1) Nobody could predict the final results, and (2) Jini Scoville won the soloist finals competition! I mean, WOW!!! She was just on another level from the rest of the solo finalists (who were all really great). All my girls want to be her! Are you folks ALL that talented in SoCal? No wonder you've all got such amazing show choirs over there!

I hope Burroughs enjoyed their time in our part of the country (sorry it rained on Sunday). It was great to meet Jen and Brendan and Mrs. Rago, and so many of you! And I'm glad that some of you got a chance to meet some of my students. They were invited to participate in the Friday morning clinics, and I was happy to see so many of them making some cross-country friendships!

Jini Scoville took First Place in the National Solo Competition. She's a fantastic singer, and the award is very well deserved. Congratulations, Jini!

I just got word that Burroughs took home 3rd in both divisions. Powerhouse took 3rd out of 6 finalists, and the girls tied for the music award. Jini Scoville made it to the top 5 in the solo competition, but beyond that, I haven't heard.

Does anyone know the rest of the results? I'd love to see them.
