yeah, umm,I don't really remember much, but I'm sure that after I watch the footage that I recorded then I'll have some more specific comments for you...
not having been able to sleep the night before the competition and having to be in OHS at like 11:00 a.m. made me too anxious and excited for everything...being the first group to arrive there @ BV (4-4:30 on Friday) and the last one to depart (2:30-3:00 on Saturday) caused me to lose lots of sleep but it was all worth it...I'm surprised at how I even had any energy left the night we performed and the day after...
.Sound Unlimited-I skipped dinner so I can stay and watch y'all,is that show choir commitement or what...what's new; I expected the usual good group that you have always been in the past.I don't know if it's just me but I felt as though there was still something missing.Maybe,I was just looking for more coz it seems as if you could add so much more to the show.It seemed incomplete,it's prolly coz I expected more from your group. It made me realize that just like La Mesa, you also sort of have a formula for your show.Like your 2nd number, it was similar to last year's Windsong.I'm sure that you'll continue your winning tradition and success in the future.
Thanks? for the words.
....yeah Our set was pretty much thrown together at the last moment. and of course, like every other grop at Fantasy, we did not perform our full set, we have a lot more in store, and I myself don't really expect the "fullest" from groups at FF....But in the future comps. I am sure to see SU, as well as all the other groups "live up" to their expectations.
Well seeing that there was no one there, i guess it went alright.
....But if the ever suprising Tolvo had some sense in her prior to this festival she could have forgotten about Kirby Shaw and had FF a week earlier w/ Mr. and Mrs. Bolles as adjudicators.
That way, GROUPS COME, we have good adjudicators, and we are all happy.
.....But it didn't happen.
(this post wasn't intended to offend anyone, I'm just bringing up some valid points)
....Good god, where the heck is Bolles when you need him?
I don't know bout all y'all who were there, but I thought that FF this year was pretty cool coz it was laid back in a lot of ways and people were able to bond more with others coz we had so much down time with our own group as well as with the very few ones there. The dance afterwards only consisted of a small group of people but wow,I'll have to admit that it was crazy as always.Girls get crazy when you play booty music....so do I...
Thank You Mrs. Tolvo for commending me on my performance, you're so loveable, ahhhh, you made my night and the first competition of my final year as a senior and you definitely helped me start of on the right foot.
The 2nd day was also really fun; aside from learning that dance from Bobbi Adams, having a clinic with Kirby Shaw,we also had that hip-hop routine from Eastlake's choreographer. So whenever they play P-Diddy (I Need a Girl 2),us Osiders,Ramona and Celebration kids will have to dance to it from now on-hehe...
But anyways, back to the previous night, here's a recap of what I thought were some highlights to the night.
Meadowbrook MS-Don't hate for those of you who weren't there, but I thought that this school was the first group to actually set the tone, they made it interesting and were actually professional (especially when they had problems with their tape) in a lot of ways, but it just made me miss La Mesa even more; no middle school or high school can ever make an impact like they do.They probably won't read this post but they did very well.
Sea Notes-2 words; WELL-IMPROVED. Excellent solo Brittni and lots of people agree that this year's show will be better than last year's.I like the song selections and the group this year is definitely more into it.Hopefully, you'll continue to improve.
Sound Unlimited-I skipped dinner so I can stay and watch y'all,is that show choir commitement or what...what's new; I expected the usual good group that you have always been in the past.I don't know if it's just me but I felt as though there was still something missing.Maybe,I was just looking for more coz it seems as if you could add so much more to the show.It seemed incomplete,it's prolly coz I expected more from your group. It made me realize that just like La Mesa, you also sort of have a formula for your show.Like your 2nd number, it was similar to last year's Windsong.I'm sure that you'll continue your winning tradition and success in the future.
Ramona "Encore"- Amanda,I don't know what you were talking about,I thought that your group had very good numbers. All of you were right when you talked about how much better your singing would be.Though there was less movement overall throughout the whole show, it's all good, that's your style so it's ok.To the rest of the Ramona girls, sorry we didn't get to meet in person, but trust me,I most likely saw you there. Tina, nice solo and Heather nice facials.Btw,who's that girl from your group that's so interested in Jesse? She's cool too...Amanda,what made you think that I didn't even know who you were,I can't believe you.I would have hanged out and danced with you more but it looked like you were too busy with Josh...
Celebration-Ok,so we missed your show, but how could you miss ours Brett? No worries,Britt and I did get your show on our camcorders.I left mine on in the back while we were in the warm-up room so we could shoot you and our group too.It must have been much better in person. One thing's for sure,it's already an improvement from last year's show. There must be something with the outfits.Good job Brett.
"Proud Mary" was filled with energy.Matt, your solo for "Stand By Me" was cool,Brittni's grandma mentioned that the whole room was standing during your performance, was the choreography to the last song improvised coz it looked like it wasn't even planned out.You know that the crowd would have been louder if we were out there too.Nice job for blowing it up for the crowd, that's what it's all about.Oh and Matt, sorry about Elena, she thinks everyone has a nice butt-haha...
Madison "Rhythm In Blue"-your show was going fine until you did that last number-haahaa, j/k...good show
Bonita Vista "Music Machines"-first off, thanks to Ash and Erick for hosting us.Jake was a really cool host too coz we had tons of fun at his house.5 guys up all night, talking about everything...good times, good times.Man,we corrupted so many people in your group.Mostly,it's the girls who stayed with Kayla too,coz they're just plain bad-hehe...Kayla,it was really nice to meet you,I apologize about Elena, Jessica,Tina and the other 5 girls who spent the night with you-hehe, j/k...you still have to tell me what they talked about...
Dani, you're such a cutie, too bad you're a freshman. So were you Jocelyn, wow, ang ganda ganda mo talaga...And to the rest of MM's hotties, sorry we didn't get to meet but yeah, you're all so beautiful, you too Lauren,I didn't realize how short you were until I saw you in person.Keep working it MM ladiez...
I loved "You Can't Stop the Beat", if that's what it's called, your last number, you know which one I be talking about. But yeah,OMG,I loved 'the motion of the ocean' (Kristey agrees) specially the movement coz all your girls get into it.Hotness, anyways, wow, just work harder and you'll have everything together before you know it.Once again, you'll be one of this year's top contenders.I can't believe that Kirby kept y'all on stage for that long.It seemed like torture from the audience's point of view, but I'm sure that it was worse being up there in person for that long.Umm,did I forget anything,oh yeah, opener was cool too, that musical number was awesome.
Ash,Pablo,Dani,Erick,Kayla,Jake,Lauren and to the rest of y'all, keep up the good work. We'll see you guys around in competitions. We had tons of fun,y'all were great.
Oceanside "Sound Waves"-OMG,Kristey and Britt, you'll have to help me with a breakdown for our group, coz you know that I'll be forgetting to mention something and I can't exactly say everything that's in my head, coz it'll be too much. It's my job to look for perfection so I won't say much about the small flaws that I saw on tape but Mr. Tygett (sp?) and Mr. Shaw seemed to love our show very much.I was totally surprised, everyone stepped it up so much that night and it seemed as if we were such a different group.
From Joe's solo to Jesse's whistle to Brittni's solo to the sense of camarederie and teamwork that we possessed on stage,WOW!!!
I don't know how we did it,but I'm so glad that so many things stuck out that they noticed all of these good factors. We have so many weapons this year which will hopefully make us one of the contenders in many competitions we attend.
"Sorida" came together,"The Way You Make Me Feel" looked so clean,I couldn't believe it."Blackbird" and "Unexpected Song"...I'm speechless and well,"I'm A Man" totally blew the audience away.I can't wait til everything is complete. If that's all you think we have, wait til we put our other numbers in...We just have to work extra hard and I just know that we'll blow some groups out of the water...
Personally,I like our show the way it is now,Kristey and Britt, what do you think,I don't really feel like adding the 3 other numbers, maybe one or two,but not all 3,coz we'll go overtime. Our show is already 14-15 minutes long, with set-up and breakdown,so I'm not sure how we can fit 2-3 more songs in there.
Trust me when I say that I can write more that I already did (probably more than Haakon did about Aztec Sing).Britt and Kristey would know about that, but that's all I'll have to say for now.Well done everyone...
About everyone's competition sets, you should wait until Brea and find out alongside everyone else!
What kind of a pitiful, selfish comment is that??? Fortunately those from Aztec don't share your feelings!
Haha, first off, it's not a COMPETITION. The groups were only there to get advice on how to perfect their sets BEFORE they compete. So take a chill pill and stop being so anxious...besides, knowing the sets won't benefit you in anyway until you see and hear them.
It's called "Fantasy Festival" cause it like a competition, but the adjudicators do a clinic with you after you perform, rather than actually score you. There are no winners or losers, it's just kind of like an exchange going into festival season.
....As for my opinion on this year's F.F........well........
So what were the statistics? Oh, wait....was this a competition or just a performance? " border="0" alt="online2long.gif" /> Sorry, geeks like me don't really keep up with everything.
yay i was proud of us too.we pulled it off but i still think we can do better.i loved that we all had energy though.we were so much more into it than we are in class.
I think fantasy was a great festival! I didnt really see any of the other groups. What did they do? I am curious too. Why hide sets, as of friday competition season has started!
Anyway, who had good sets? How was oceanside?.....
Just wondering if anyone could give me the run down about hat happened at Fantasy Fest? What songs did Bonita Vista, Celebration and Oceanside do? How did everyone do? How did everyone look? Did anyone go?
