I'm just noticing a lot of backhanded comments from people that weren't attending the competition
I don't believe anyone is saying Clinton should not have won. They deserved the win without a doubt along with their show and music awards.
The implied opinions in the posts, I believe, are more about the overall judging over the last two days that was surprising in the results. This coming from people who were at the competition, including myself. Audience reaction was also telling when results were announced.
But judging these competitions is solely a subjective matter. There is no objective way to judge a competition. We all see from other competitions how one choir will dominate one weekend and then later compete against the same choirs and lose badly. It's the nature of the beast.
The subject of judging in general has been an ongoing topic over the years I have been involved in choir and will continue long after I am gone. Maybe it should be a separate topic and not on this thread so people don't think the choirs are being criticized.
I actually think thats exactly what this sight is for... Honestly, I'm sure people aren't really going to like me saying this: I totally agree with the result. But even though I agree with how it shook out I have no problem with hearing what people think! Thats like saying that because congress has made a law we should just accept it and move on because they are trained professionals at law making. That sounds ridiculous because of course we are going to talk about what we think about the law or decision made. Its the basis of the American ideal of a free press and freedom of speech. Everyone has an opinion, wether it is biased or unqualified, and everyone has their right to express it. Even if it is about something as silly as a show choir result.

Entertainment capital of the world and they bring in HS music teachers and a college student??
Given that there is no such thing as professional show choir, and that college show choir is at a lower level than high school show choir, I don't see why the judges wouldn't be the people who best know high school show choir.
Wow, lots of hostility and questions going toward this result. Need we remind ourselves that show choir is about singing and dancing? Clearly the judges (who are all quite renowned in the show choir world and very much qualified to be judging here) saw and heard that Clinton not only danced better, but also sang better as an ensemble. I don't think that it's the place of people on showchoir.com to speculate as to what happened at the competition.

Wasted opportunity with all the professionals in the back yard. (Did the associate music director for one of the most popular television shows on right now score score shows, or just pick a cappella and soloists?)
Clinton, Burbank and Burroughs consistently take the medium to a new level, they deserve a fresh perspective and tougher scrutiny.
Regardless of the outcome, you're still looking at the big three in the show choir world.
While they are excellent show choirs, Waubonsie Valley has bested both Clinton and Burbank in the last 2 years. Wheaton also bested Burbank last year. But I guess midwest choirs don't count in the show choir world...

Who should they have brought in for a HIGH SCHOOL competition? Accredited high school educators and an associate music director for one of the most popular television shows on right now and that's considered a less-than-stellar panel?
Heath Gemar, Ellen Bowen, Eric VanCleave, John Burlace, Linda McEachran, and Michael Orland the musical director from American Idol who judged a Capella, and best soloists.

Congratulations to the Clinton kids, who I'm sure were fantastic as usual. It is truly amazing how much talent is out there in the show choir world - no matter what style you prefer. From Mississippi to California and everywhere in between, we are certainly fortunate to be able to do this thing we love so much. I can't wait to see the videos!
I just wanted to say I was so inspired by their hard work. I was in their warm up room and Dave Fehr easily took the kids to a better level of understanding the music. Also, the students are so well trained. If one starts talking to someone else he'll realize himself that he shouldn't right now and he stops himself. No need for any one else to discipline him all the time. Their choreography was freakishly clean. Their energy was off the roof. That was truly inspiring to see.
If only we had a website where you could look up that stuff...
There was a 40 minute wait after Burbank performed to set up Clinton. But when Clinton is that good, a time penalty (if given) would not make a difference.
Well, Mr. Fehr and his wife do tailor and design all of the costumes for Clinton every year, along with making trips to New York to decide upon the fabrics. So I wouldn't be too shocked at them winning best costumes....
Best male solo to Clinton. Missed his name. Robin Mazer gets best female for PH.
Insync gets best acapella. Clinton gets best costumes (really?)
Powerhouse is third.
Clinton gets show and music.
Burbank is second.
Clinton wins!

Great Job Clinton! Probably Fantastic as always and also great job to Burbank and Burroughs! Amazing competition at Los Al hopefully I'll make it out there one day! Till next year.
What I wouldn't have given to be out there last night. No disrespect meant to any of the other great groups across the nation, but it just doesn't get better than a Clinton-Burroughs-Burbank throwdown.
