In 2011, both Westside "ATSC" and Ankeny "Visual Adrenaline" qualified via Orlando, but didn't attend Nationals. Not sure why, but both of those groups are again attending FAME Orlando. Franklin Central "FC Singers" also qualified back in 2011 and didn't attend Nationals despite Nationals being held in their home city of Indianapolis.

I think a lot of it will depend on each and every school's individual calendars. Some schools might have conflicts such as Prom, school musicals, or perhaps ISSMA events (or something similar for non-Indiana groups).

We(westside ATSC) didnt attend back in 2011 because the nationals date lined up with prom and DECA Nationals. DECA is huge at westside and we had like half of our group qualify for it

I'm guessing Los Al won't be going to Nationals since they're going to Fame Orlando for their yearly trip. Just an educated guess tho...I don't have any inside info yet haha
That's kinda what I was thinking, too. I was secretly hoping someone would volunteer that information.

Do we know of any groups who won't be continuing to Nationals even if they place top three in one of the regional events?

I believe I have read something to the effect that the Fame National Champion gets an automatic berth in the next year's championship, and does not have to go to a qualifier. Fuzzy recollection only. Wheaton does not have Fame Nationals on their calendar, however.

If all the above information is correct, and Wheaton Warrenville is not competing in any FAME event, this will mean we will have a new FAME National Champion for the first time.
Granted there have only been two FAME National Champion contests, but yes you are correct.

Do we know of any groups who won't be continuing to Nationals even if they place top three in one of the regional events?

Is Los Al going to both Fame events?
Yes, Los Al "SoundFX" and "Soundtrax" will be making appearances at both Hollywood and Orlando #2 according to the FAME website and Los Al calendar.

edit: nevermind, they didn't attend Hollywood.

Just starting this topic up so we can get things configured. Do we have a master list of all of the choirs at each of the events like last year? It's fun to try to figure out who might make it to the end and ultimately be in contention for this thing.
