hmmm, well after this weekend, I think that I could make some predictions

Finalists:
Ankeny- Always one of, if not the, best group in Iowa
Urbandale- Right up there with Ankeny
Johnston- Did well this weekend in a tough comp, so we'll see
Waukee- Had a great year last year, and will probably build on that
Bemidji- Has been a pretty good group in recent years
Totino- I think that after getting their feet wet at Viterbo, they'll find those changes they need to make and get into finals
CR Kennedy- Always a very strong choir, however I could see them not making finals on account of Kennedy's past history of competitions early in the season

I could also see CR Xavier, CR Jefferson, or one of the IC schools sneaking into finals

The only prediction I can make after yesterday is... Johnston and Xavier will be in finals.

That's really nice of you to say! As for me - the only thing yesterday proved to me is that "ANYTHING can happen"! it's crazy now these early season contests have become so competitive. I suppose the unknown factor really makes it all that more exciting to watch. Can't wait for next week - I'll be enslaved singing the final performance here in Chicago of the Verdi Requiem with Muti conducting - so somebody MUST text me and let me know what happens.

Good luck to all! I'm not hosting a specific group, I'm hosting judges this year, so hopefully I'll get to see quite a few performances!!!

So, i'm from Urbandale and we are all really excited that Supernova is our first competition. This is probably our toughest competition all year. Looking at the line up, I have a feeling it's going to be a great competition. Good luck to all groups!

It will be nice to see how the groups do after this weekend

Totino not making finals, how will they come back?

I am very excited for this competition, it will be so hard to pinpoint what groups are going to be in the finals.

I still tend to call spagetti "basketti" and sandwiches "samiches"
Just thought I'd bump this, cuz...... OMG 1 week!! *spazz*

SOOO excited for this. My first high school competition EVER! (at least the first one where I'm not in the junior high level) My cellphone has been "__ days until LM!" since like, 85 days until.

*sigh* I'm such a freshman. Oh well!

Good luck to everyone who will be attending!!

EEEK! This is looking to be a fantastic day! I really wish I could go and watch, especially to see how Totino is doing with April James' choreography. Good luck to everyone!

Heh. Welcome to the ranks of the hopelessly addicted. We're glad to have you. Have a GREAT time next week!

I really hate that Linn-Mar always happens on the same weekend as my madrigal dinner, since it means I don't get to go at all. If we didn't have a ridiculously early call time, I could conceivably watch the day round and then high-tail it back to school and still make it on time... Oh well.

Ha! She'd get along well with my mom. Some of her classics are:

Walmark (Walmart)
Opfrey Winfrey (Oprah Winfrey)
Balentimes (Valentines)
All-timers (Alzheimers)

I still pronounce "Breakfast" as "breakfrist" and my daughter still calls "lemonade" "lemalade". What can I say, lower my diction scores!

LOL, I didn't realize my grandma was in charge of their website... My family has been involved with TG for more than 10 years, and she STILL says Tortino.

If i had a dollar for everytime someone said Voclamotion, or attempted to say LA VOCE BALLO....hahaha or try to spell bemidji! I would have a lot of MONEY! However, if Totino's pizza company ever decided to make tortellini pasta... well i think they found the name for it above!
Tortino Pasta!

So I was browsing around the Supernova website checking out ticket prices, food menus, etc. You know, just generally getting kind of pumped up for our first competition coming up when I noticed that on the results page Totino is listed as Tortino Grace. It just made me chuckle a little.

Is anyone driving from the Des Moines area to come to this competition?

Funny story... over break my mom smashed into this deer and totalled her car, so she is using mine since im at college and don't really drive that often. Unfortunately, that also means I no longer have a way to get here. If anyone will be driving through/from the area and could give me a ride I would really appreciate it!

I am very excited to see Bemidji this year! They are usually a great treat to see at the start of the year!

As soon as i get back from California i will be working a few days and then its Linn Mar time!

Thanks!!! Still LOTS to do, and the days are quickly counting down, but Bemidji cannot wait to come back to Linn Mar and compete!!!! I am also excited to see the AMAZING CALIBER of all the groups going....... who knows about finals, or places, or what will happen, all i know is that everybody at Linn Mar High School is going to see some awesome show choir, from MANY awesome groups! Good luck to everyone in your rehersals leading up to the competition, and in your safe journey to get there!!!!
