We didn't go because it was during our sprink break. Our director said that then we would have to rehearse during the break and he'd much rather have us enjoy our break. Gotta love him for that!
Haha we just had break, we went to Burroughs though, but it was fun! ;)

lol that's fair enough.
Competitions during spring break are always an iffy thing, because you can't guarantee that people haven't made plans already that can't be changed, so smart decision.
I've always wondered this, but never asked anywhere before: How come In Sync didn't go to Arcadia? I thought that was weird.

You see, I'm not the one to underestimate Brea, because they are a tremendous group, which will make this upcoming So Cal competition even unpredictable.
However, Los Alamitos is not the one to be underestimated, either. They beat Burbank In Sync in the Show Choir Nationals. I don't think you had the chance to see their set this year, at least not yet, but trust me when I say this that when I saw Sound FX's show during FAME LA, I was just amazed with what they did and thought that they could do some outstanding things. And they did in Nashville. Their new director has done tremendous things with that choir.
Look, I still think that Brea is a tremendous group, and I really respect them and their director as well for what they have accomplished, but all I'm saying is that I don't think it's fair to think that Los Alamitos will beat Brea all because of the judges, because it's not that simple. Los Al has done an amazing job this year as well, and honestly, they should not be underestimated.
Now, having said that, I still believe that this is going to be the toughest So Cal competition yet, and I wish the best of luck for all of the competing groups.
They beat In Sync? Huh. Did not know that. Guess we'll have to see come saturday!!! Can't wait!
And I'm also excited for Los Al's boy group. I liked them a lot last year.
Now im really bummed that i didnt make it to the arcadia competition to watch. Stupid tags were expired and got pulled over by highway patrol and missed the whole thing. haha. But yea im so excitied. This is truly one of the best line-ups with amazing groups that Socal has ever had. Good luck to all!

is the advanced mixed division still split Tier I and Tier II? I've heard mixed things that it might be all one division.
As far as I know it's still split... I haven't heard anything to the contrary.
how do we view the live feed? i'm not sure how this works?
In the past, Haakon has setup a graphic on the SCC homepage that enables users to click the graphic and view the live feed. There would also have been a link at the top of the Forums page.
I doubt that's going to happen. Hart's not going to beat Brea. Nor will BV. Los Al shouldn't, either, but with these type of judges, it probably will. It'll be like Arcadia all over again when they even had to come out and explain why Brea didn't win when the theater-wide standing ovation said otherwise...

EXACTLY. That's the problem. Judges like what they like. Most of the time it's not based on skill or anything, just preference. Judges are also hired to fit the director's preference, too. In fact, last year at Los Al when Brea's Chamber Choir placed 2nd ( I think...), the judge that placed them high was swiftly fired and a new judge was hired for the next day.
Yeah judges sort of like what they like, I totally agree with that in a way because it happened to our choir something like that. At Fullerton College we were at a competition against Rowland's Advanced Mixed group. One judge gave us a 92/100, another gave like a 94/100, and the last judge gave us like a 83/100. We were like what??? Apparently she thought our singing didn't fit the style like for our a'cappella she thought it should have been more poppish, but my director said in the context it was written it she disagrees with the judge, also the judge said to attack "Love Heals" (our power ballad), we had no idea what she meant by that, but yeah the judge didn't like us vocally.
