I am just going to say it... I think the competition was very rigged.
I mean... come on... did any of you actually watch the live feed the night before? I did. It showed of a VERY shady poker game between the judges, directors, Jen Oundjian, and Tony. Jen passed out before the game ended... so Brett Carroll came out of it with a royal flush... therefore Burbank "won".

This is the humor I enjoy! " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

2006
That was the first tie ever. After consulting with the judges then, we decided unanimously to NOT break the tie. Had we broken the tie then, it would have ended

GC Burbank
2nd Place:Burroughs
2008
SAME exact result! But this time we followed the rule and will from here on out

Thank you Jedi Master Atienza.

Question...

I recall a tie at SoCal 2006. When did the rules change to allow a tie-breaker?

I defintily think there is a double standard when it comes to the whole respect thing. When your choir loses its ok to have sour faces and talk trash about the first place group in the bathroom ? But its not ok for a few members of a choir that won to accidentally get carried away?? If you got your apology on the bus bringing this issue onto a public forum is like washing your dirty clothes in public. It wasnt neccesary for anyone to bring this up where everyone could read it, it just caused some new show choir drama and made it ok for everyone to state their half-asses opinions ... Even though most of it is hearsay. This whole issue is ridiculous. People are just sore losers and like making drama to turn the attention away from what is really important: These kids singing and dancing their heart out and enjoying music. I agree with Tony , people should really think twice before making such presumptuous accusations. Peace and Love, and again let's grow up already and stop being drama queens.

"I have heard (and now seen) that several people have accused me of "rigging" the competition...

Do you actually believe I have the fricken time to fix a competition with ALL the things I NEED to do in order to make this work??? Judges, Lighting, Sound, Hosts, The Venue, Parents, Union stage hands, Seating arrangements, tickets, programs, schedule - - 2 theaters actually, scoring sheets, recorders.... OMG.. I can go on...

You think too much of me if you think I am that good in rigging the competition so that I can choose the winners... (advice... careful what you say in your myspace posts... my students know your friends, and next thing you know, the whole world knows how unhappy you are...)"

I thought the competition went the way the performances went. Whatever happened on stage was what went on the judges papers. So.. there was really no way for you to rig it, which i don't think you did, by the way. :]

and the whole, pretty soon everyone knows you're unhappy thing, makes SO much sense, and is so true :] haha you and mrs. ronacher have a way of finding out everything. its a little scary sometimes actually.....

I really can't wait to travel out to this competition next year. It sounds like a really good time. I'll even hold my own parade... for anyone and everyone to join!

I laughed.. only because I enjoy humor as twisted as this...

/slap

Life is too good (and too short) to be all bent out of shape over something as little as this... (short and little referring to time and significance as opposed to me being vertically challenged)

Too many unhappy people in this world look for excuses to say NEGATIVE things to make them feel better...(Just look at some of the unwarranted posts) I try to stay away from these types, and you should too!

I have heard (and now seen) that several people have accused me of "rigging" the competition...

As for "Africa", we did it for fun and in honor of the 2007 GC... also to make Brett sing on stage, which was forced on him so suddenly! Thanks Brett for being a sport and singing with Chula! Unfortunately, those "unhappy" people, again... like to say bad things about our rendition of Africa.... sigh... We did it for FUN people! Not to win any awards, of which we are NOT eligible anyway, cause it is OUR competition...

In the words of Bobby McFerrin

"Don't Worry... Be Happy"

TA

I didn't think you rigged the competition and I thought that the singing of Africa was really fun. Just for the record.
