Congrats to the Middle School groups. And Clinton Jr. High "Ambassadors" on their GC (BV, BC). Way to go!
wuuuuut. I had no idea there was anything going on tonight! We've just been in the hotel watching show choir on youtube... haha
They will not sing circles around Buffalo Grove. Their ballad is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. Absolutely stunning.
Waubonsie has the capability to sing circles around everyone. There is no group in the nation with the concentration of raw talent and excellent vocal teaching as them

I really love their ballad. I was surprised any show choir would do Sleep as a ballad. I was a little disappointed they had the piano double the bass part at times, but they did a great job with it. Sleep is my favorite Eric Whitacre song.
Regardless - I'm anxious to see (hear) if WV will indeed sing circles around the rest of the field like I think they could. Can't wait to find out tomorrow!

The choir has an occasional note that isn't perfect. Far less than everyone else, but still SOME. The band has none. The band is jaw dropping. The most organized collection of instruments I have ever seen. Albertville has more of like an orchestra and it's chaos sometimes. To see how their band operates is one of the hidden gems in show choir. David Fehr puts a show while he plays piano too :p
1. I wouldn't say Clinton is the Crimson Tide of show choir because they haven't completely dominated like Bama has in a while. I also love Clinton's shows, as opposed to my utter disdain for anything having to do with the SEC
2. I would be willing to bet against Clinton at this competition. No question they're still the favorite, but no group to me has emerged that can sing better than Waubonsie Valley. Not to mention Buffalo Grove usually sings very well and will put up very good scores.
Of course then again, I'm going to this one, so I won't really know until Saturday
Clinton hasn't lost since 2009 to Burroughs "Pretender" show. 3 straight unbeaten seasons (going on 4). Bama can't say that!
It'll be interesting to see if Waubonsies lack of creativeness in their show will effect them since the other two have taken the creativity approach. Get what I'm saying? Comments?
I wouldn't say that waubonsie's "linked show" isn't creative - it's just different. Starts off with the whole thankful for simple gifts type of thing, which hinges on to the whole how lucky you are / lucky strike thing - makes sense to me, and that's a far cry from "uncreative" in my opinion. Heck, even a show of 5 perhaps 'unrelated' songs can still be very creative - it all just depends. Maybe a better word for what you're saying could be 'dramatic' or 'theatrical'?

It will be interesting to see the judges preference with type of show. It seems there's different complexities with shows whether they are traditional or full on into story mode. I know Buffalo Grove really went full out and evolved into a story show which is way cool like Wheaton, and Clinton blends both traditional and story.
