They did not award an Overall Grand Champion on Friday night. Curious on where this information is from?

Seems like while there weren't official Awards given out for Overall Top 3, but It was reported that according to scores, Sumrall Placed first, followed by Petal and NEJ. Someone please feel free to correct me here as I haven't seen the scores myself.

NEJ and Biloxi middle school are neck and neck. NEJ has beat Biloxi , and Biloxi has beat NEJ . It's a 2/3 and I am excited to see how it is going to turn out. At Petal NEJ got 2 captions over Bilxoi (Best vocals and Show Design). They are doing Condorcet method of judging again like they did at Petal. Which means it does not matter what the score is whatever show the judge's like the best will win. Not really fair if you ask me. But I am very excited!!!!!!1

I went to a competition this weekend where Group A was ahead of Group B in 3 of the 5 judges' minds, but 1 judge had Group A behind Group B by 23.5 points. So most of the judges thought Group A was better, but they ended up way behind in points because of that one judge. I used to be a raw score type of guy, but I've seen too many judges change results by tanking one choir.

I’ve seen and heard of bunch of those too. I’m sometimes even apprehensive of using raw score in prelims because of it, but one of the ones I’ve seen was a group that went from second or third in consensus rankings to not in finals off one judge in prelims.

As an assistant director who has had a group lose a caption award despite having a higher raw score, I’m actually a big fan of condorcet. The philosophy I try to pass on to my kiddos is that we have to be undeniably number one in the eyes of the judges panel — if it’s a toss up and the other group wins out, then that’s the nature of the competition! We pay our respects then It’s back to the drawing board.
