By the way, I never went to HN, no actual connection, I'm purely a fan of theirs, and I also recognize that I'm probably going to be the only person on here who cares about this. Admittedly, there aren't too many giant fans of Huntington North hahaha
I'm on the same page as you, Jay. Not so much with the Huntington North superfan piece as I'm not that familiar with them , but rather the eyebrow raising set up of this competition. As someone who has put together almost all of the event pages on here this season and many in the past couple years as well, I would say the time slots and divisions were a little wack. I'm not sure what's so difficult about having divisions that make sense and time slots that are similar with those divisions. (*This isn't including the special circumstances where directors request an early or late time slot due to travel, jazz band contests, etc.).

I think it'll be interesting to see how Huntington North performs the rest of the season. If this was an abnormality or what. But for what it's worth, it appeared via Twitter that the HN students showed some excellent sportsmanship.

Thanks, Preston!

Surprised to see Huntington North miss finals here. Perhaps that early time slot Jay alluded to... idk. Must be an interesting day! And nice work, Marion Harding, representing Ohio!

lol I knew I was right, and people were trying to down vote me..... smh

But seriously.... There was only one concert choir at this competition. Seems kinda silly to put that one choir last in the day and then make the varsity show choir go at 9:30 am.... Also, there were only 2 choirs in the large group division, and they performed 5.5 hours apart from each other. How can you POSSIBLY judge that division well with that much separation between the two groups in the division??? HN could've easily gone around 2:30 or 3 and been ready in time for concert choir.

By the way, I never went to HN, no actual connection, I'm purely a fan of theirs, and I also recognize that I'm probably going to be the only person on here who cares about this. Admittedly, there aren't too many giant fans of Huntington North hahaha

This is the first time Huntington North has missed finals since 2009. Certainly an impressive choral program to say the least.

I said this on the last page, but I want to say it again, congrats to Marion Harding for GC! Way to rep Ohio!

Lol I have to be honest, im pretty scared to compete against Huntington North. I mean we're a good group, but we don't have as much confidence as Norwell or any other school does.. So yea, tomorrow is gonna give me the shakes..

A few changes to the schedule.

This competition separates mixed groups by school size not group size. Therefore, my post above is incorrect. South Side is indeed Large Mixed. Apologies for the mis-understanding!

Also, Indian Springs MS will now be performing at 2:45pm. Norwell MS is at 3:15pm. And Woodside MS is now at 3:45pm. Woodside will not be competing because they are the host school.

Yea we only have about 18 singer/dancers in our group so i dont know why we're large. Wait.. is it based on school size maybe?

Lol quick question, lol because im confused, why does it say for the Homestead Competition that we're Large Mixed but we're actually Small Mixed? -South Side Sound Waves....????????

Thanks for the update, Preston. And Jay, I somewhat agree. This schedule looks all sorts of wonky.

I'm more weirded out by the Large/Small Mixed categories... I assume Homestead just allowed directors to self-select which category they would like to be a part of? Otherwise, I'm not sure how these were logistically formed. South Side HS isn't all that much smaller than Huntington North in terms of enrollment and Marion Harding has 56 singers/dancers... so... *shoulder shrug*

LOLLLLLL to Huntington North performing at 9:30 am. That is seriously a crime for any varsity group to compete that early. Especially with the concert choir going 7 hours after that. Such a long day

I've been informed that South Side will be competing in small mixed... I have heard that from someone, but not sure if it's "official". Although I believe they have been performing as small mixed at every other contest so far this year.

Thanks, Preston. Do we know which choirs are Small Mixed and which are Large Mixed? I would assume Huntington North and Marion Harding are Large Mixed and some of the others are clearly Small Mixed, but there are a couple question marks. Any clarification?

Huntington & South Side are the only large mixed on the schedule. The rest say small mixed. Also, I got word today that Southwestern will not be attending this competition.

I fixed the post above.
