I never imagined anyone would ever choose an aria from The Consul to open a show. Sure got my attention!

fact: our director pulled that piece for me last year to use as a college audition piece, he said "this piece is really hard and I haven't used it in a while but you're great for it." and then he fell in love with the piece all over again and that, my friends, is how Lullaby from the Consul ended up in a show choir set the next year :p

Such an accurate statement.

The same statement can be said for competitions at the end of the season as well.

I can definitely tell that he starts after the ballad. Damon Brown still does before the ballad?

Yes.

Is he only doing certain numbers?

Not that it should affect your opinion, but Stephen Todd also now choreographs for Urbandale.

Is he only doing certain numbers?

Does he really?! That's so exciting!

And I realize that I seem even more biased knowing that stephen todd choreographs for Millard west, but I would have put it in a different order.

These first competitions of the season can sometimes have crazy different outcomes than the ones at the end of the season. Like last year, for example. Hastings won their first competition ahead of Mt. Zion who then came back and beat hastings at their last competition of the season (fame nationals)... So who knows. By the end of the season it could be an entire different story as far as placement and strong points versus weak ones. I'm excited to see where everyone excels this year! BUT GOOD JOB H TOWN! You guys have gotten so much better since I was in Riverside!

Wow. After having watched the top four placing groups from this on youtube(yeah... thats all i had to go off of so bear with me) I would have picked differently. And I realize that I seem even more biased knowing that stephen todd choreographs for Millard west, but I would have put it in a different order. I think i would have gone Hastings, Millard West, and then either Urby or Linn-mar. Not sure which for the order for third and fourth. I was really impressed with Millard West. I thought they were high energy and well executed! Some things that were a little shaky here and there, but I loved it. Keep it up!!

Hi everyone! I'm a member of Hastings "Riverside Company", and our director has asked us that we don't have any videos of our show posted! He really wants to keep the "surprise factor" for future competitions! It's ok to take videos, but we kindly ask that no videos are posted, or that any already posted videos are taken down. Thank you so much!

Post Spectrum's show please!

I would wait on posting Spectrum considering they have yet to compete and more importantly the videos from Spectrum 2014 and VA 2013 had to be taken down for copyright issues.
Edit: Hastings preview show is also on YouTube for those interested.

Hastings sure can sing!

Not to mention the soprano that hit a High C at the end of the opener. I think it's safe to say that they will get Best Vocals at Nationals.

Someone posted the entire Hastings show. Just thought I would throw that out there in case anyone wanted to see it.

And in finals Hastings had all 1's and we had all 2's and one 3 I believe (but don't quote me on this).

Pretty sure we had all 2's and a 5 in finals from the same judge as the daytime, Hersel Cremeans. Since they use consensus ranking (or Fehr Fair) for the finals that one judge's opinion really didn't affect anything.

Huge S/O to Mr. Miller and the rest of the crew at Centennial for putting on an outstanding competition! Great venue, great hosts, great food, and the competition RAN ON TIME!!! LOVED Spectrum's show! I got to see Millard west and Hastings after our finals performance and was blown away by the cleanliness of both group's choreo. Millard west always has such a fun show and I get jealous that I'm not dancing with them. Hastings "Mr. Sandman" was definitely my favorite selection of the day and their whole show is impeccable.

Scoring wise coming out of daytime I know we (Studio) had rankings of
2 2 2 1 5
With Hasting having the other four 1's

And in finals Hastings had all 1's and we had all 2's and one 3 I believe (but don't quote me on this).

Super fun day and the chant-offs were really fun too!
