What about Ravenswood??? School size of less than 450... They competed in Division II last year???

This competition does class based upon singer size. It's 30 or less for Tier II. And I know they have 35 this year.

Thanks for making the changes!

I caught another one--

North Royalton should be in SMALL because they are only in their 3rd year of existence.

Thanks Haakon!

> Updated. And uh, you're welcome.

This should be a good one. Can't wait to see how this one ultimately unfolds.

Also, Jeff or any other crew member, the Bunsold "Mini Swingers" perform in exhibition at 7:30, and also co-host the competition.

Wow, I haven't made predictions in a long time...

Prediction:

GC - Fairfield "Choraliers
1RU - Loveland "By Request"
2RU - Fairfield "Pure Elegance"
3RU - Matoaca "High Impact
4RU - Piqua "The Company"
5RU - Olentangy/Beavercreek/North Royalton?

Best Vocals - Fairfield "Choraliers"
Best Choreo - Loveland "By Request"
Best Band - Loveland "By Request"/Beavercreek "Friends"

5RU is a real toss-up for me. And Best Band could go to Loveland or Beavercreek. No matter where they place, Beavercreek manages to get Best Band consistently.

Seeing Fairfield yesterday really took me by surprise. I've always been a huge fan, but not like this. I am ecstatic to see BOTH Choraliers and Pure Elegance again! I've never been a fan of Single-Gender show choirs. They always seem incomplete and static. But PE proved they don' need no men to be incredible Then, "Fountain of Youth" smacked me in the face and shook me around all sorts of emotions from the get-go. I am absolutely in love. The Choraliers are definitely going to give Loveland a run for thei r money. However, that being said, Loveland has consistently proven they are able to compete with huge names this early in the season. I'm excited to see how this plays out

From page 1 of this discussion:

When's the last time fairfield and Loveland have gone head to head?
South Dearborn Opening Knight Showcase 2011.

edit: Correction - Fairfield and Loveland both competed in the summer of 2012 at the World Choir Games hosted in Cincinnati. Fairfield earned Gold and World Champion status while Loveland earned Silver.

Jeff, you know how bad I am at checking the discussion.

And I don't know if I would necessarily count the World Choir Games as a traditional "competition." When I went, there was a completely different atmosphere. Nothing like a regular competition in a high school auditorium.

I'd like to add to the discussion that Loveland and Fairfield haven't competed against each other since 2010 at South Dearborn. And that was before Loveland's (what I like to call) 'breakout' years. They are absolutely a force to be reckoned with. And undoubtedly top tier in the Midwest. But that being said, Fairfield always meets expectations. They are consistently one of the best groups in Ohio.

Long story short, I am VERY excited to see how this plays out!

PREDICTIONS:

GC: Fairfield Choraliers (BV, BC tie, BSD)
1RU: Loveland By Request (BC tie, BB)
2RU: Piqua The Company (Best Costumes)
3RU: Matoaca High Impact
4RU: Fairfield Pure Elegance
5RU: Olentangy Keynotes

The captions are really tough to predict in this one but I'm sure that this will be relatively close to how the placements will go

I think it's interesting Showcase is capped at 15 choirs this year where in the past there have been closer to 20 groups attending. Regardless, it still looks like a fine early competition.
Over the last 5 years, we've had a span of 11-19 groups at Showcase (not counting the great Snowcase of 2014.) And this year, we again have 19 (knock on wood.) No different than any other year in my eyes Although, it will be weird not seeing the smiling faces of Solon for the first time in 5+ years...
