It means that the Titanic ended up on a magic carpet flying away instead of hitting an iceberg and sinking, but it's just a guess.

Aladdin meets Titanic. I can't even begin to picture what that means. Something I'll definitely have to see at some point! Intriguing.

"Titanic with an Aladain twist" - from an Alumus friend of mine. Prep doesn't perform their full show at their comp though. So, I can't really explain the show.
That's exactly it.

They were singing about magic carpets, and I was like ehhhh Aladdin??? But then they ended with the titanic theme which was surprising. But also beautiful

Did Homewood get a time penalty? Not that any other groups deserved to not make finals, I am just shocked to not see Homewood on the list.
I don't think so. Honestly, it felt like the tempo was dragging a bit or their show pacing was off for most, if not all of the show. Not much else was wrong and that's something that can be easily fixed and I fully expect them to be back on top shortly...

Caleb or someone, what was Jackson Prep's theme? I watched your video of the opener and ballad on YouTube but couldn't tell much.

From ProCAT.

Just got back in from a great competition! As always, once we get back we look over some of our video, and upon a quick look (quick... yeah...it's Sunday morning!) ... it seems we had some audio problems.

Trying to shoot, edit and put in your hands a DVD within 30 minutes after you leave the stage is not the easiest thing in the world, and sometimes we screw up

We strive very hard to provide you with a video that tries to even come CLOSE to all the great work ya'll put on the stage. We are honored that you trust us with your video, and always stand behind what we do.

So, if you purchased a DVD from us and there were any issues, please let us know and we will replace it.

We will be recording the South Jones and Capital City competitions this coming weekend, so we will gladly bring you a free replacement DVD with us.. just let us know.

email us: [email protected]

Again, sorry for any problems! We know that every company makes mistakes, but the true worth of a company is how it handles the mistakes it makes. If we messed up, we'll fix it!

Musicially Yours,

Mark Dyer (owner...janitor...and the fat bald guy on the videos!!)

I feel like this year's show is a little shorter some of the more recent shows, so it's hard to imagine them getting a time penalty.

Some thoughts……

Auburn - Nice show. I wanted a little more drama at the very, very end of the ballad and transition to the next song, and the sopranos were having some intonation issues, but otherwise awesome job! Figure out how to make the closer as stunning as the opener, especially the first half. I would have had you guys higher…. like by 3. #LOL

JA - Huge congratulations to Katie and the students; that’s so awesome! Can’t wait to see the show again at FAME NYC - I’ll be rooting for you guys! Way to prove that size isn’t everything.

Petal - Best I’ve seen Petal in a while, great job! Tune the opener.

Grenada - The sound wasn’t working well from the live feed for your show for some reason, so it was hard to compare, but congratulations. Who’s the director? I did not catch his or her name. Also, way to have energy still after performing at like 8:00 this morning and hanging out all day.

Mrs. H. - Thanks for the live feed!!!!!!! Good luck this season!

This has to be the most unexpected result in the past few years of Southern show choir.
Kind of like Albertville not making finals at Petal last year. It happens! That's show choir

So proud of Encore! They are really performing on the next level now and I cannot find words to express my pride.

I really am interested to see a point spread for this one! I have heard it was 3.5 between JA and Grenada in prelims.

For those confused by results tonight and didn't get to watch the prelim performances I would like to say that the depth of souther show choir has increased drastically over the past few years. Point spreads have become tighter and tighter between all groups and all divisions. It's not that anyone necisarrily "did bad" or "got jibbed" it's that everyone is performing on the next level.

Lastly, I have a few groups I wanna mention:
1. South Jones y'all were awesome! I really enjoyed watching your show and I thought y'all executed fantastically.
2. Auburn: I hate to say it but I think your theme may be losing you points. I love the theme and the show wholeheartedly but I could see that serving as an explanation for lower than predicted placement. Your ballad slayed.
3. Elite Energy: y'all stepped it up for finals big time! I've never seen a group change that much from one performance to the other. It was like two different groups. Y'all deserve that GC you faught for
It!

Perfect example of "anything can happen" in finals. Both Greneda and JA should be way proud that they made finals against some really good much larger groups. I think it also shows how deep the south has become in terms of show choir. There are so many fantastic groups! And this is only the first competition of the year :D

I have videos of the openers of every finals group as well as Jackson Prep.

And now, for the 2 hour drive home...
