I mean, head-to-head and last year's results do support you more than they support me, but the groups still aren't the same as they were last year simply based on the fact that seniors graduate out and that new people come in. The performances from last year that I judged were all at Midwest competitions, so it couldn't reflect a head-to-head with Auburn and Homewood, but it did for Auburn and EEE. And it is actually pretty interesting that the finals rankings (or at least your rankings) are in alphabetical. That would just be gold if it happened, but I really want my home group to win it. Of course, neither of our systems can account for a group having a particularly strong year this year compared to last year.
Funny how both lists are the same lol. I agree with jdcritt--it will probably be a close one
**Watch out for Brandon--they have done so well in the past in the Middle Mixed division (and middle school a few years ago). Interested to see how they do moving up to Large Mixed.
I've decided to back the predictions with my reasoning.
2014 Meetings:
Auburn beat Homewood at their only encounter last year (Albertville), with Auburn receiving 1RU and Homewood 3RU.
Auburn beat EEE at Wheaton.
Petal was beaten by Homewood twice last year.
SJ was beaten by Auburn and EEE.
Head to Head Wins Against "Top Groups" (I realize this is a highly subjective term):
Auburn--Jackson Prep, Mt. Zion (FAME National Champs), Solon
EEE--Mt. Zion (FAME National Champs), Solon, Jenks
Homewood--top win against Petal or Manteno
Petal--top win against Oak Grove or Davenport
SJ--top win against Albertville or Crete-Monee
Opelika--top win against Enterprise or Oak Mountain
Prediction posts should not receive up or down votes no matter how you feel about them.
Interesting statement. I'm not sure I agree. I mean--I've had my share of down-votes on predictions (for example, go look on the Tallassee page right now), and I don't feel great about getting so many thumbs downs. However, it feels great to get like 11 thumbs ups on predictions, which has also happened for me. Neither keep me from posting predictions, and in all reality it's kind of nice to have some feedback on how I make predictions (whether good or bad). Also, it's pretty awesome when my down-voted predictions turn out to match the actual results. Thus, I'm not going to tell people they shouldn't up or down vote predictions based on their feelings.
ALSO: You didn't really make any predictions in this post--you just "judged" last year's shows based on your view last year's performances.
I decided to look at the 2014 shows for Caleb's top three and score them with my scoring system that puts equal emphasis on vocals and visuals. It is NOT what a real score sheet looks like, considering that vocals generally account for half of a choir's score. In alphabetical order, these are the scores and caption placements that I came up with in my system (out of 300 points):
Auburn - 282 (1st in Vocals, 3rd in Choreography, tie for 1st in Show)
EEE - 280.5 (2nd in Vocals, 2nd in Choreography, 3rd in Show)
Homewood - 282.5 (3rd in Vocals, 1st in Choreography, tie for 1st in Show)
Keep in mind that this is not a realistic judging sheet since vocals and visuals are equivalent in this system. I do not believe there is a best band award here, so I did not add it to the captions; that caption would have gone to EEE in my scoring system. This scoring system cannot account for a group that suddenly is ten times better than they were in 2014. If these results end up accurately reflecting the ones at this competition, I am not a psychic. Prediction posts should not receive up or down votes no matter how you feel about them. I may have graduated from Homewood, but my views do not reflect the choir's views, nor do I give any special scoring to them.

WOW! That's great and super exciting. I've seen EEE in videos and live feeds :D
I might make the trip for this one--shaping up to be a great competition.
We have a GREAT VENUE with the BEST SOUND around and the BEST in/out backstage set up!!! It truly is a great situation.
We would love to have your show choir with us for this 2015 competition. It is really at a great time. Seems we are needing to be ready for competition earlier so that out students can enjoy their spring breaks and concentrate on academics the last term of the year.
