Is anyone else having problems with playing the video of the competition? It's not loading and I'm not sure if it's their website, my computer or I've been cursed to never see Attache perform.
I know there was a glitch during their prelims performance, but I was able to watch finals earlier today!

A few thoughts on yesterday:

Clinton- I was amazed at how much your show improved in just a week from Homewood to Petal. It also seems like your guys are stronger than the girls throughout the show, and I think that's awesome because that isn't usually how it is! Also, great job to the time travel guy who picked up the mic the dancers knocked over during finals. You handled it so well, like it was supposed to happen.

Madison Central- I liked your show way better this week at Petal, you definitely stepped up your game for this weekend. I still have two problems with your show, not enough real band sound (for my taste) and some of your dancing makes me feel a little bit uncomfortable, especially in the guys feature.

Albertville- I was BEYOND shocked. Your show at Petal was as good, if not better than at Homewood. Honestly, I don't see how you can go from beating 3 of the groups at Homewood to not even making finals at Petal. But who knows what was going through the judges head. I just think it's a little crazy, and I wish we could get an explanation from the judges.. but congrats to Abbie for all her soloist accomplishments!

South Jones- Your ballad is still my favorite.

Jackson Prep- I love your Great Gatsby theme and your costumes are so awesome.

After prelims, I predicted finalist to be:

Clinton
Albertville
Jackson Prep
Oak Grove
South Jones

I agreed with the final placements after finals was over.

Thank you for your kind words about us! It really makes us feel good to know that people enjoy what we do and we shouldn't get down about anything that happens.

Ok let me just say that Clinton's guys number this year is insane. They received a standing ovation for the guys number during prelims and finals.

Just a follow-up to my previous question and also just letting everyone know that it looks like they are configuring it right now to go back and watch where you wish. Day 1 is set up to be able to re-watch, and the message on the video page now says, "We are preparing the on-demand video for this event." Just wanting to let everyone know, in case you missed your group, or just want to watch them again.

That's great! I had problems with my video when Clinton was performing.

Knowing Fehr it was intentional! :D

As far as rewinding I don't believe so---- but I've been wrong on SCC COUNTLESS times before so... yeah! lol

Let me say again.. Albertville DID NOT get a penalty. I have seen score sheets, talked to high ups, etc and no one was penalized for time today. Head Mics (which are ONLY used for solos) were not an issue as far as a "penalty". They are used for the one purpose, not enhance vocals of any sort, but for solos. It frees the soloist up to allow them to perform and act and have a true character.

I understand this now! I was only saying that I thought they probably could've placed higher in my opinion!

Madison Central's show was groundbreaking--the use of electronic instrumentation, the acapella ballad with director, the use of backdrops outside of the curtain (idk if others do this).

Might snag show concept award.

Just curious...what specifically about their show did you find "groundbreaking"?

Not saying they weren't great, because when I saw them they did look really good.

I just didn't see anything that was just jaw-dropping, and certainly nothing that would take a show concept award over Clinton or Jackson Prep (or even Albertville, had they made finals).

Have they added some new backdrops onto the front of the stage since Homewood's competition last weekend?

The only ones I saw in the performance were the two black sheets with the rockets on them, and they weren't exactly what I'd call "backdrops". They're in place to mask their band speaker towers from view.

I did really like the a capella ballad, and wish more Southern choirs would try it.

They are a very classy group-as always! Maybe I would have enjoyed it better live instead! It just seemed as though they were winded this year through several parts of the show. The show design is amazing (as always) and it was very obvious that the performers were working their butts off on that stage. I was just a little disappointed!
!

Shaun, I'd have to think it was just the live feed. Unless something drastic happened tonight as a step back from last week, Attaché sounded better this year than I thought they have in the previous two, and carried it through until the curtain closed.

I did watch the live feed tonight as well; any quality differences that I saw between it and the live performance I saw last weekend I'm attributing to the low-quality video stream.

Not that they aren't always, but I think Attaché is going to be extremely tough to knock off this year.

edit: fixed the quotation boxes. I'm apparently incapable of getting it right on the first try...

Holy cow! Jackson Prep! I expected great things, but this is beyond!

Predictions (live):
GC: Clinton (Vocals, Visuals, Overall Effect)
1RU: Jackson Prep
2RU: Madison Central
3RU: Oak Grove
4RU: SJ

Though... I could see a judge's perspective for giving Jackson Prep vocals. Though, in reality, I doubt it. Maybe in a few years. But this definitely is a high point for southern show choir. And yeah I'm shocked too about Albertville--yet that's so great for the other groups! :D

I don't know if it was intentional or not, but during Wild Wild West, I felt like I was transported back to their 2005 show

EDIT: Does anyone know if we will be able to rewind the stream?

Clinton...
CLINTON...
Life-changing show. Choreography as expected. Vocals far better than expected. Live setting changes everything. So professional--even when the microphone was knocked over. There were gasps in the crowd. Time machine guy made it look so smooth--like it was part of the performance. Best Clinton ballad I've heard in a good few years (and of course Mr. Fehr's brilliant accompaniment).

However--can they compete in Cali? I think yes. Very much so. We'll see :D

Can't wait to see Jackson Prep next! Heard amazing things !

I have been at Petal since 8am and spent most of the time in the booth and the only penalty that I know of was West Jones and it wouldn't have changed their placement.

Well I personally seen with my own two eyes that Madison Central had a penalty. I can't speak for other tiers and groups included in that.

West Jones did receive a penalty for time and also a "hazard" back stage (broken light bulb). Penalties worth around 30 points of penalties... I am also pretty positive Albertville did receive penalties for time and their Microphones... I'm not as positive about that but... The show itself was longer than 25 minutes.

If anyone has daytime scores, that would clear up a lot I think.
Perhaps later tonight/tomorrow/at some point a director can clarify some stuff. About three different groups have been accused of having time penalties and so on so forth. So that would be nice. Some of them certainly check out this forum, so they will at the very least see your request, Caleb.
