Predictions:
1. East (they just keep getting better it seems)
2. Lincoln Southwest
3. I could see this going a lot of ways... Etobicoke/Gretna/Brandon

This is going to sound odd, but I feel like the top two are right even though they may not be in the right order. The third slot just is going to be fought for. Brandon has some of the best choreo I've seen, and they execute it flawlessly. They have good show design, but their vocals will be the deciding factor on how well they do. Etobicoke will be interesting to see how they play out... I'm with whoever said judges preference... If the show doesn't really seem like a brand of show choir that we are familiar with, then it will come down to whether or not the judges deem it acceptable. And then of course Gretna has been doing well!

Bump/Prediction

GC Lincoln Southwest (BV BC)
1RU Sioux City East (BB)
2RU Gretna
3RU Etobicoke

Well, who knows how well East will do after the incredible progress they've made this year, but Lincoln Southwest has had over a month since Urbandale to clean and perfect as well. What about Etobicoke? From reading forums from the past few years, it sounds like show choir in Canada has taken a more "Glee" route. So, judges preference then?

I like the explanation that goes with this, but I fell like east may have an advantage, just because they just came off a win. Also I feel the fact that lincon hasn't competed since Urbandale may be a bit of a disadvantage.

The closest mixed choir coming to this is 464 miles away. Shame on Illinois schools for not coming to this.

Just watched Etobicoke's 2013 show on Youtube and they can definitely finish top 3 here. Their choreo is not very strenuous but very precise, and vocals are fine. Depends on whether judges expect aerobics.

Fame's website shows additional choirs:

Single-Gender SHOW CHOIR COMPETITION
12:00 PM - Oswego High School Ambience - ILLINOIS
12:30 PM - Etobicoke School of the Arts GLO - TORONTO, CANADA

MIXED GROUP SHOW CHOIR COMPETITION
1:30 PM - Davis High School Jazz Choir - CALIFORNIA
2:00 PM - Gretna High School Revolution - NEBRASKA
2:30 PM - Brandon High School Brio - MISSISSIPPI
3:00 PM - Lincoln Southwest High School Ambience - NEBRASKA
3:30 PM - Etobicoke School of the Arts Splash - TORONTO, CANADA
4:00 PM - Sioux City East High School Headliners - IOWA
4:30 PM - Lincoln Southwest High School Resonance - NEBRASKA
5:00 - DINNER BREAK
7:00 - Host Group Performance - Marian University Knight Fusion Show Choir
7:30 - AWARDS PRESENTATION

The show choir schedule has been posted above. It doesn't appear that there is a single-gender division here at the Chicago qualifier.

I think it will be so very interesting to see how ESA "Splash" does here. It's not a super stacked competition with traditional FAME attendees… so who knows what can happen!

edit: BTW, awards are scheduled to be announced at 7:30 PM.

I just saw on the Facebook that a group from Toronto will be competing here. I'm confused. I didn't think Canadian groups could compete?
Yeah it appears Etobicoke "Splash," the two-time defending Canadian champs, are attending FAME Chicago this year to compete. I don't know that it was ever against the FAME rules, I mean I can't really see FAME turning a group away simply because they're not from the U.S., FAME is a business after all.

In the past, I think international groups have attended, but only performed in exhibition so I assume that Etobicoke feels like they're up to the challenge so it should be interesting!

Lincoln Southwest Ambience and Resonance. LSW is also bringing their Varsity Concert Choir and Select Chamber Choir to the Choir Competition as well.

We are very excited for this opportunity! Can't wait!
