I think it's kinda crazy to see that Mt. Zion didn't make finals here, but turned around and won FAME Nationals. That says a lot for the caliber of groups that were at this competition

But in all seriousness, I almost forgot just how much this day meant to me. Buffalo Grove's daytime performance marked the highlight so far of my show choir viewing experience, and being a part of this amazing competition was so heartwarming, nerve-wracking, and just an all around day of fun choreography, great singing, and much love. When does slightly neding the rules become full on breaking the rules? Maybe some deductions here and there but when do you say, disqualification. The director added comedy to the piece and that's all. The kids didn't sing better or dance better or perform better because he was on stage performing also. But when do you say a line has been crossed and the rules of the competition have been broken. What if a school had 10 seconds of recorded sound effects? It is only 10 seconds but say in the rules it says no recorded anything. Does that bend or break the the rules?
It is an interesting situtation because will groups continue to bend the rules thinking that Burbank did this, why can't we and those groups could get disqualified.
My opinion is rules are in place for a reason. Follow them or here are the consequences.
Edit wasn't working so above should read bending not neding. Also, all the kids performing at WWS Choral Classic are so talented. I give them credit for getting on stage and doing what they love. No way I could EVER do that.

In my opinion, that's a resounding "no," so I don't really care. Plus, he was onstage to sing for all of ten seconds.

I think that if they had a kid in the group play/act the part of the director instead of having the actual director it would've been more effective and less controversial
I honestly dont think the show wouldve been as effective if he wasnt it in. If your going to show the process of trying out and show choir in itself. . The director should be present.. I saw nothing wrong with him the show.
Was anyone ever able to determine if Burbank was penalized for having their director perform in their set?
While the rules state that "all singers/dancers must be students of the participating school", they also say "directors can be on stage with their group and may conduct at their discretion."
I think that excuses them. Besides, I'm sure Mr. Carroll would have looked into this prior to competing @ the Choral Classic. And if anyone would be understanding toward a group performing an unconventional show this year, it would be WWS.
It's a live stream. The "archives" are just a bonus when they exist, but I wouldn't criticize them for "their stream not working." You should buy a DVD if you're interested in watching after the fact - this helps the companies continue to be able to put them on for us free of charge!
You're being unnecessarily picky with word choice here. I simply said the stream was not working, not the live stream, which actually can refer to the stream being live or archived depending on the context. I was not criticizing the stream I was simply stating it's current condition during my post. There was one more group I intended to watch and missed because it went offline. I realize all of the hard work that goes in to streaming videos and I am not discrediting their work at all. I did not personally attack the stream or the company or degrade the quality of their work. However if a stream is being advertised with an archive option I do believe I have the right to say "it's not working" if it isn't working and that option is said to be available to us. I have just as much right as you who criticized the stream for it's sound quality at an earlier point, which was actually your opinion and not a stated fact like when the stream is clearly unavailable.

Burbanks show was amazing! They performed very very well! Even with their director Brett Carrol being in their show it still was awesome and loved the theme! They are great performers and always are! now this is my personal opinion but I'm shocked they didn't win. Waubonsie is absolutely amazing don't get me wrong they can SING(and DANCE) but Burbank's show was a huge mic drop! so much energy and clean choreo and I thought they had Vocals down in a bag, they sang amazingly! Go Burbank and good luck with the rest of your season!This if not will be the biggest comp of the 2014 season!
