The Day of the Teays Valley Classic SHow Choir Invitational is finally here. Good Luvck to All of the Show Choirs competiting and Father Zombie will be loking for you!
The only reason we got 5th in Avon is because 4-1 went to state and only indiana groups can go to state in indiana. The judges said they wish thry could of put us in 2nd (1st runner up) Bottom line is, we've been screwed over A LOT this year and the.scores show it. Tommorrow is going to be tough for all of us. May the best group win.
Dalton, I think you have answered your own question. You started off posting very respectfully and asking for others opinions and then your other two posts I have quoted above show bitterness and making excuses. The show choir community is generally a pretty positive place and some of your negative posts take away from that a little bit which is why I would assume there are down votes on some of your posts.
Your post about Avon and ISSMA was completely off base. It was wrong. As a Fairfield student pointed out, Ohio choirs can compete at ISSMA qualifiers and earn whatever placement the judges see fit. Hamilton didn't earn 5th at Avon, because they were a non-Indiana choir, they simply earned 5th, because they were the 5th best choir in the judge's eyes. Your posts about Avon show that you don't have a thorough understanding of ISSMA or judging.
In terms of getting screwed over a lot, I don't know Hamilton very well or the competitions they have been at this year, but I think that might be a tad dramatic. Hamilton isn't the only show choir in Ohio, or the nation for that matter, that has lower scores than expected or expected a higher placement and thinking otherwise is simply naive... not to mention insulting considering saying Hamilton has been "screwed" implies that either the judges have been uneducated or unprofessional or implies that other choirs that placed above Hamilton didn't deserve it and there could be students/parents/directors/etc. of those choirs and competitions on here so it's important to keep things respectful. Show choir is a subjective art. Not everyone agrees on what is "best" which is why we see different results at different competitions.
I don't personally have a negative image of Hamilton. Hamilton simply hasn't proven themselves to be an elite Ohio show choir capable of consistently making finals and earning strong placements. Negative posts, as I pointed out, don't really help the cause either as people don't generally react well to negativity so I would encourage you to release any grudges and focus your energy on more positive discussions.
I love the SCC Crew, they always know exactly what to say on these forums
Tomorrow's the day! I'm so excited to see so many wonderful performers! I thought about some last minute predictions, but I might do those tomorrow instead. I've been to almost every competition with Rhapsody in Blue this year, and it's been very weird actually having to buy a wristband, not riding the bus, and all that jazz. But I'm the most pumped for this day out of all of them. The competition will be fierce.
Will someone please explain why they look down on Hamilton High School "Rhapsody in Blue"? I really want to know. Please, don't hold back. You guys earn grad champ EVERYWHERE. hahaha. Well deserved, too. I loved the show last year! Especially the riser set up. That's an odd thing to like, but I did!
Well thanks! yeah it was an interesting set-up, such a pain to do for rehearsal though
We earned Grand Champion honors at Mooresville last year, which is an ISSMA qualifier, even though we couldn't qualify, being from Ohio and all ;)
And same with Ben Davis this year.

You're right, they didn't. We can't go to ISSMA, we're from OHIO. But that's beside the point. We'll wait and see who makes finals tomorrow. Predictions get extremely feisty. No real need either. No one on here is a judge tomorrow, and we all know how judging can change from competition to competition.
I think we're all in agreement though that it could be
Clover Hill Piqua or Loveland winning tomorrow. All great shows!
