I personally believe there is a huge sense of sportsmanship among the groups in Ohio. I've personally seen groups come together this year for DeKalb and Marysville. I saw groups at Fairfield chanting “Save the Swingers” and being completely unselfish. It was great. The level of competition across the board has just increased the intensity this season. It is nothing against Hamilton. I am excited to you guys tomorrow at Teays. Good luck.

Best wishes to ALL the groups tomorrow. It should be a good competition to close out the season in Ohio.

I don't believe anyone looks down on Hamilton. The only time people may go on the offensive is in terms of predictions. In this thread there have been people from your group posting to look out for your choir and as a candidate for finals. It is great that you guys are confident and proud of your show but people are looking at your past competition results to determine their predictions. Clover Hill and Loveland have both won GC's this year. Piqua and Olentangy have made finals at every competition they have attended, and Grosse Pointe just came off of a 2nd place finish (their only competition so far this year). You guys have improved every competition but you have also missed finals twice this year. Then looking at the groups that placed ahead of you at Avon it would look like it might be a hard road to make finals.

It is nothing personal against your group at all. You are correct there are politics in show choir, but that happens in pretty much any competitive arena. I'm sure people would be happy for you guys if you did make the jump and get into finals. Until then people will go off of what they have seen at other competitions.

There does seem to be more comradery in SoCal, but there are a limited number of SoCal show choirs. It has been said many times on here that they usually see the same choirs at every competition so they end up knowing each other very, very well. You do see sportsmanship like that in the midwest a lot, but since there are so many midwest competitions it may be harder to compete against a group that you are very close with.

I know that's how it is with Marysville and Solon. During the 2011 season, we had almost the same exact competition schedule. At those competitions, we would always interact with each other! Last year, however, the only times we saw each other was at our own competitions. No one would have known of our friendship if they hadn't already before hand!

Will someone please explain why they look down on Hamilton High School "Rhapsody in Blue"? I really want to know. Please, don't hold back.

No matter who makes finals, I'm so impressed with all of the groups. Especially the ones who are constantly making peoples' predictions for finals. There are A LOT of phenominal groups this year! I already love performing my own show and just being in show choir in general but watching other outstanding shows makes the experience even better. This is my first year in High School Show choir and it is by far different from Middle School. The things I love about it is it's more intense, better costumes/sets, and you're group isn't always the best group haha. But the one thing I don't really like about it is there's more politics and favoritism. When I first joined show choir, I felt like it was a way to escape from all of the criticism and politics from the world, and at first it was in Middle School because everyone was just so supportive but now that I'm in High School Show Choir, I don't feel the same. I understand we'll get criticised and stuff by judges... That's expected. But my group and myself as well are always getting criticised and discriminated by other groups, even though we ae very supportive. Yesterday I seen a picture on here of two groups from California who went head-to-head for first and second at this huge competition and they were associating with each other with their trophies comlimenting each other and thanking them for pushing them to the level they are at. That's what I think show choir should be about. I want to wish everyone the best of luck on Saturday and to remember to give your best but if you do not succeed as a group, just know you did your best. See you all there! (:

I know that JD Smith and Kevin Manley are two of them. Those are just two of the judges though. There will be eight at the competition. Four judges for Championship, three for Festival, and Keyona Willis will be the Solo Comp judge.

Crandall is actually NOT a judge this year. The student who gave you this information was misinformed. They may have just assumed this as he has been many times in the past. They did mention the judges at the meeting the other night, but I am sorry that I don't remember the names. I will try to find out or have someone who knows post.

Thank you!

I try and find those head to head wins, because I feel like those will show a true winner between two groups. I see what you mean though. We'll see though.

Piqua beat Loveland at Twinsburg.

I don't see Piqua taking anything less than second.

Finals:
Clover Hill
Piqua
Loveland
Grosse Pointe/Hamilton/Olentangy

My last 2 slots could go to any of the 3 groups I listed at the end. Our show has grown, and I'm sure their's has too. Any given Saturday, people. Just watch out for those last three, because they could shake the whole thing up.

The new schedule has been updated above. I assume all choirs remained in the same division as they were from the previous schedule? Southwestern being the last festival group and Ada being the first championship group. Let us know if there need to be any other changes!
